Summary
Ah, the thing that started it all.
Crazy Colt radio was made by me in a fit of randomness back in the year 2004. I decided to make a bizarre clip of a Sean Connery sound-alike- singing about bubble gum and post it on a forum( I can't remember which one sadly) I had such fun improvising this that I was compelled to make it a series. In the original clip Reggie is absent, Dingo and Colt's voices are slightly different. From there the clips would be about random ideas based upon my personal thoughts or about a specific holiday.
As the clips continued, Reggie was added as a (slight) voice of reason among the apathetic and hateful Dingo, and the increasingly mad (but jolly) Colt. Despite being called "Crazy Colt Radio" only a few situations were presented in such an atmosphere. Around this time I began testing different character voices such as Marvel Comics's Onslaught and Venom, I even looked for voice acting oppourtunities but they all proved to be unsuccessful.
On 2-2-05 I made a big change, as I was testing out different Capcom sfx and musical tracks I got inspired to take the whole "show" in a new direction. I made the Roadtrip multi part episode the following day; it was filled with sound effects and it had a central storyline based upon improvising; The crew was heading to a chilli festival. A heavy note: This was before I had audacity and a good mike there were various pops and clicks, I had to heavily improvise with the sound fx and such because of sound recorder's time limitations. The sound quality was somewhat poor on the fx. While I was proud of this production it gets somewhat cheesy. This also is the first appearance of the "Unseen Horror" a creature that usually ends up causing chaos and scene changes. This was all improvised(in a painfully obvious manner) as I hit record and lacked any form of limited scripting like the other big episodes.
The second "big" episode "Random Acts of Violence was slightly better in sound quality; less pops clicks, Reggie is a bit more understandable, the sound fx are a bit louder and clearer and finally the controller I used to activate the sfx wasn't heard as much as "Roadtrip." I used more music in this one at certain points and the storyline was not as moronic. The first episode that features the narrating weather man.
After several months of hiatus due to actively pursuing voice acting at New Grounds, I finally returned to the CC Radio crew. The sound quality happened to improve, this was the biggest CC Radio yet, due to inexperience with the multiple tracks system, the memory of each chapter was somewhat large (lots of audio fx) so it was divided into 8 parts. Soon I will join all the clips into 1 file and clean up the pops (if possible) This episode featured the origin of Colt, the introduction of CC Radio's evil boss and the loveable robot/android/mecha guy Punchooooooooor-X.
After this episode, the curse of the Crimson Raving Warbler(a mythical evil creature....that happens to look like a Scarlet Ibis) followed. To date, due to busy schedules and lowered inspiration I put this on hold. Soon I shall pick up where I started. This episode featured Russle; an albino body guard for the boss with a penchant for yelling out devestating move names. The crazy Colt crew had the misfortune of feeling his wrath due to being late far too many times. In a spin off clip Russel saved an old man in distress. He was originally a parody of an incomplete story character: Mr. Rage but has become his own character. When this episode finishes, the sequel "Legacy of The Crimson Raving Warbler" will feature Russel in an increased role.
This is not the end of CC radio; I have been feeling confident lately and am toying with the idea of holding auditions for future character and making this an ongoing audio show. I owe this for getting me into the voice acting arena, the least I could do is promote it and get it out in the world. I want this to be the best it can be and I'll be doing my best to improve my old mistakes.
