Dingo's Den

Voice actors are fun! Evil penguins are not..

under construction

Hello everyone, I'm Shockdingo.  Now you may be wondering, "Where'd he get such a bizarre moniker? Dingos have nothing to do with electricity."

The truth is....I don't remember how I picked that either, maybe it had to do with my annoying habit of excess static electricity around the house year round. ANYWAYS.  I've been doing amateur voice work since March of 2005 when I joined Rina Chan's Voice Acting Club( she formerly went by Kagome) It was located within the Newgrounds forums in order to help flash artists select actors for their productions but currently it has expanded into a separate and easy to navigate forum. I have a link to it on my page.

Interests:

As you can see from my demos, I'm a big comic and videogame fan, I'm also a geek.  I'm pretty much in love with Capcom and their huge library of games. I love SNK too (hooray for MEtal Slug and KoF 12!), but Capcom related products have been in my household for too long. A big big biiiiiiiig pipe dream of mine is to either be a future announcer for a Capcom game ("Get ready challengers....fight!"), voice a fighting game  character ("Sonic boom!" Somersault Justice!") or just voice a Capcom based character in general. Must...get...in...Street Fighter...5 cough cough

Voice Acting Heroes:
-Frank Welker: Now, this man has so much range that I'm seriously starting to consider the fact that super humans may in fact exist

-Phil Lamarr: Such an amazing jump; from MadTv to a variety of media outlets.  I knew he had range, but the December afternoon when I realized that he was Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 still caused my mind to implode and then reform in an alternate universe.  He has major skills and I want to aspire to be like him.

Amateur Acting Experience + Thoughts:
I'm not just interested in voice work, but I've spent many years taking drama courses, starting from Middle School/ Junior high till I graduated. I'm quite passionate about acting and want to do it for the love of the craft not to get rich into Hollywood.  Yeah yeah, I know that sounds hokey and typical and gag inducing, but I would rather be an actor than a celebrity. Hey the cash is an awesome-awesome bonus, but getting to experience new locations, I mean just imagine how lucky the kids who got to film for Narnia or those in Batman Begins felt when they went across the globe. Also getting to work with incredible people as well as participating in spectacular things that a normal person would never encounter is what would make me wake up every morning and be eager to run off to work.   I wouldn't mind if people recognized my roles but knew nothing of my personal life.  Here's a quote from Rachel Weisz that sums up how I feel:

"I think celebrity is a vulgar thing.  It's so easy to be famous, turn up in a certain frock, present a show, take your top off.....If you go to those parties and wear those dresses, you become a celebrity, which has nothing to do with acting."

One of the reasons I enjoy voice acting is the variety of roles that are available; I've played an aging major, an orc, a moogle from Final Fantasy and even a talking frog.  I enjoy transforming myself for each role and actually would pursue roles that are engaging, yet make me look unglamorous if not hideous through the use of make-up, prosthetics or costuming. Playing a snarling werewolf,  a space creature or even super hero(must get in shape...darn it) on the big screen would be loads of fun!

Christina Ricci said it best when she said "The more different something is, the better...you don't want to do something you've seen a million times before."

Ok...ok...ok so I've mentioned Christina Ricci on this site a couple times.  What can I say? I like her.  Yes yes in my opinion she is  incredibly attractive, but I have to say I do like her attitude and views on things as well.  Some of these quotes that I found of her views were pretty interesting to me.  Found on IMDB.com's Christina Ricci bio. (I hope they're ok with me borrowin' the below):

I spend a lot of time with my mother. When I'm doing movies, she's always with me. We spend days being bored in an apartment together waiting for someone to call and say I'm needed for a shot. Because we're together so much, we have to get along. We have to find ways to get to know each other. We've gone through a lot of stuff, you know, and I think we're pretty close.

I'm not perfect-looking and I don't say the right things, I'm a little different, nothing really special, but I guess I come across as a little more real to people and that comes through on the screen. I know I look young, but with the right make-up I can look older. I definitely feel older.

My dream role would probably be a psycho killer, because the whole thing I love about movies is that you get to do things you could never do in real life, and that would be my way of vicariously experiencing being a psycho killer. Also, it's incredibly romantic.

I like playing people who are so afraid and ashamed of who they are and so disgusted by everyone around them that they decide to become the ultimate extreme of what they're afraid they are.

Jim Carrey is another of my favorites; huzzah for Canadian pride! I mean seriously, do I even need to mention WHY I enjoy this man's presence? Well after seeing the general color scheme of this page I think this little bit of trivia could add something.  From IMDB:

Often his protagonist (or antagonist) roles are associated with the color green. The Mask (1994), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000), "The Riddler" in Batman Forever (1995), the alias 'Mr. Red Green' in Fun with Dick and Jane (2005). The Red Green reference in Fun With Dick and Jane might have been a nod to a Canadian comedy, "The Red Green Show" (1991).

In all seriousness, he's an incredible man with great talents and here's a final quote to tie into the theme of "uniqueness" this last one is from Thinkexist.com

“There's new territory, there's new places to go, new things to explore. Why stay back there? ... Maybe it will take three films to find another character that is really totally original, but I've got a lifetime, so why waste it just repeating myself.”
