We are a small rat rescue group located in NE Ohio. We specialize in home surrenders, but will take other situations into consideration. Our mission is to protect and preserve the integrity of these intelligent and misunderstood creatures.

We do require a small adoption fee which may vary, depending on the circumstances surrounding the rehoming of the animal and adoption process. This helps cover the cost of care, food, supplies, etc.

If you'd like to volunteer for transport or fostering (even if its only a few you can take in), please contact us! We appreciate all the help we can get!

Donations are greatly needed and will not be refused! We run on donations, and are non-profit. However, we do not have non-profit status(as of yet, we're working on it) with the IRS due to filing fee costs. All monetary donations are used for medical and all other unforeseen emergencies. We need everything and anything from toys, cages, tanks, tank toppers, food, bedding(NOT pine or cedar, all others though) rags and all sorts of supplies..((See Below for helping out by buying Avon from us)). We thank you in advance!

Thank you for visiting our site, and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to drop us a line

The Following is from an informative Rat Site from the UK: www.RatPlanet.co.uk/ -- - Check out their site for other cool info!!

Hot weather means hot rats! They are very prone to overheating and they can't sweat like we do, or pant like dogs. They may lick themselves all over in order for the water to evaporate and cool them, but any excess heat is lost through their tails. If your rat's tail is hot - your rat is too hot and needs to be cooled down. A heavy, shallow bowl of cool water will be like heaven for your overheated rats. They often like to sit in the water...just their tail, bottom and paws immersed is enough to cool them down. ·Why not let your rats have a paddle? A shallow cat litter tray, or an unused paint tray, makes an ideal paddling pool. Never leave your pets unattended in the water. ·Make sure that there is a good supply of fresh, cool water for your rats to drink at all times, especially in hot weather. Gravity dropper bottles need to be refreshed, and the nozzle cleaned every day in warm weather. If your rat has a bowl to drink out of, make sure you keep the water - not only cool and fresh - but clean too. Rats will often use their drinking bowl to wash and cool themselves. A couple of ice cubes may be added. ·Keep your rats out of direct sunlight at all times - not just in the warm weather. The constant light and heat can have devastating effects on rats. After all, they are nocturnal creatures. ·Keep a window open to allow fresh air into the room - but make sure no other animals (kitty!!) can get in. This is not only important for cooling purposes, but it also helps to prevent respiratory infections (which are far too common in rats). Avoid using sprays such as air fresheners and fly killers, and make sure that there is no smoking around your rats! Any of these can irritate and cause chest problems. ·Another problem that comes with the warm weather - flies and ants! Ants have a way of creeping in to even the cleanest household. Check nests and bedding as you clean them, as with litter trays etc. Ideally, this should be done at least twice as often in hot weather. Never us sprays - Fly Killer may kill more than just flies! ·Construct a cooling system from glass bottles or jars, filled with water and then put in the freezer overnight. Leave the lid off in the freezer or the bottle may crack. Pack these around your rat's cage or nest to form a cooling air-flow. Be sure to keep them away from any electrical equipment and plug sockets. Water droplets often form and drip down onto whatever is below. This could be a fire hazard! If you use plastic containers, keep them out of reach of claws and teeth. You could find yourself with a waterfall on your hands. Beware of the blue inserts inside cooler bags - they contain chemicals, and could be lethal if ingested by your rats. ·HEATSTROKE can be a killer, and if your rat is suffering - get him to a vet as soon as possible. Symptoms of heatstroke include drooling, lethargy or unconsciousness. If you think your rat may be suffering from heat stroke, cool him down straight away. Give him water containing a pinch of sugar and salt.

Help Put a Stop to the Aerial Gunning Down of Wolves in Alaska
I know this has nothing to do with rats or other small animals, but this really upsets me! It disgusts me to no end when I think of this inhumane form of population control -happening right here in America! Alaska's solution to their over abundance of wolves is to allow people (with permits -so that makes it right, uh-huh) to get into planes and fly over packs of wolves, (whom are running for their lives) and one by one, shoot them down. I thought we were a bit more civilized than that, but I was mistaken -you see, if we were to sterilize or neuter these wolves, that would cause the state to lose money, not make money. The ones in favor of this see it as a win-win situation, the ranchers are happy, they are making money, and hunters get to have their trophy's. To me this is no sport -this definitiion of sport hunting is even worse than waiting for a deer to come by the salt lick you put out -at least the deer doesnt see it coming. I could go on and on about this, but I'll stop here. You can call the governor of Alaska, Mr Frank Murkowski at: (970) 465-3500, and/or you can sign an online petition. I know these petitions have been going on since they started this barbaric act, but the moment we silence ourselves, then all hope is completely lost -for all of us, the wolves and you as an individual.

PROTECT SEALS—SAY NO TO CANADIAN SEAFOOD!
*taken from ASPCA Email Alert*~

The largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals on the planet began on Tuesday morning. By the end of this year’s hunt, fishermen from Canada’s East Coast will have killed more than 300,000 seals—many as young as 12 days old. “Compassionate consumers all over the world have the power to end this bloody slaughter for good,” says Patricia Ragan, director of HSUS’ Protect Seals campaign. More than 75 percent of Canadian seafood is exported to the United States—and by pledging to boycott all Canadian seafood if Canada continues the hunt, ASPCA News Alert readers, you’ll be sending a strong message to the Canadian fishing industry. In addition to boycotting Canadian seafood products such as snow crabs, cod, scallops and shrimp, there are additional ways that you can protect seals and end this inhumane hunt.
