Our Board member and Secretary, Jan, lost her beloved Shih Tzu Brandi today, December 29, 2009. Jan fostered and adopted a very special senior girl that we rescued from the Royal Oak Shelter years ago. Brandi's family -- Jan, Ed, Shari and Shelby are grieving and we ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers. We love and miss you beautiful Brandi....
Mikey!
MIKEY! This is Mikey, our special needs puppy. Mikey is a Shih Tzu/Pomeranian pup that was attacked by a large dog, resulting in the loss of one eye and blindness in his remaining eye. His owners were unable to cope with his disability. Despite his handicap, Mikey is a happy, playful confident boy! He recently graduated from puppy class at Trainers Academy in Troy, Michigan, and the training staff could not believe Mikey was actually blind. He can now walk on a leash, has learned many commands and tricks, and can run (and I mean RUN!) from one room to another, navigating furniture and walls.
