Shevington Tenants and Residents Association was formed in December 2004 as a result of anti-social behaviour, crime and nuisance incidents in and around the Shevington estate. At the A.G.M a management committee was formed, myself as Chair and 12 other committee members developed a constitution, a code of conduct and an equality and diversity policy.
We have been working in conjunction with Greater Manchester Police, Tenants Participation Team, Tenant Relations and
Communication is the key, we have given all our members information, advice and guidance relating to their problems and concerns. Information is provided with regular public meetings the distribution of leaflets and home visits. We now have a successful surgery at Shevington library on Saturday mornings.
All the issues that have been dealt with collectively through the Association have been very effective. There has been a significant change on the estate and peoples views are being aired and dealt with and creating the confidence to report any issues without fear of retribution.
If these are the changes that can be made over a 12 month period, what could happen over a 2 year period?
The volunteer committee members are working hard, and enjoying the challenge. Please come to the meetings and show your support.
