Sheroes Rag

We generally accept submissions for our departments: articles/essays, short stories, fan fiction, reviews (book, movie, etc), and poetry. However, if you have any anything else, feel free to submit that, too.  Anyone can submit. Please read the guidelines before submitting.

In the subject line, put the department name. In the message, include the title of your submission, your e-mail address, how you found out about Sheroes Rag, and the name you want to be published under. Submissions can be attached (Word 2003-compatible documents, please) or in the body of the e-mail. E-mail your submission to sheroes_rag@hotmail.com.

Please single space your submissions, indent paragraphs, and don't put an extra space in between paragraphs.

Articles: Articles should be informative and interesting. We prefer opinionated articles. Articles should be no longer than 5000 words. Essays are also accepted in this department.

Short Stories: Short stories must be your own original idea. Short stories should be no longer than 5000 words. Make sure you send us the entire story at once.

Fan Fiction: Fan fiction can be any fandom. Fan fiction should be no longer than 5000 words. Make sure you send us the entire story at once. Credit for the original concept, settings, characters, etc. goes to the original author.

Reviews: Reviews should be no more longer 500 words. Reviews can be over anything-books, movies, plays, TV shows, musicals, etc. Give a brief summary of the plot and then tell us what you think.

Poetry: Poetry should be your own original idea. Fan fiction poems should be submitted to the fan fiction department. Poetry should be no more than 1500 words. Any style or topic goes.

NaNoWriMo Excerpts: "National Novel Writing Month [NaNoWriMo] is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000 word) novel by midnight, November 30." In the December issues only, you can submit an excerpt from your NaNo novel to the 'Rag. Excerpts should be no more than 1500 words.

We've decided to only publish five submissions in each department per issue. The first five accepted submissions in each department will be included in the next issue. The next five accepted submissions in each department will appear in the next issue, and so forth.

We're looking for anything and everything. We look for submissions that are well-written and interesting, and ones that introduce new topics and views. We are especially interested in new authors.

Sheroes Rag is a trimonthly webzinezine, so there's four issues a year. New issues will come out on the fourth of each month, unless otherwise noted on our front page. Issues come out in March, June, September, and December. We'll accept your entries up to eight days before the next issues.

March 4: December 28-February 25

June 4: February 26-May 28

September 4: May 29-August 28

December 4: August 29-November 27

By submitting your work to Sheroes Rag, you must realize and agree to the following:

• We cannot pay you for your work.
• We MUST have the writer's consent to publish a submission.
• No plagiarism.
• Please don't be too explicit.
• We accept previously-published submissions as well as never-published pieces.
• Even after a new issue is published, old ones will still be viewable in the archives.
• We cannot accept anonymous submissions. Please use a pen name instead.
• We accept simultaneous submissions--you can submit a piece of work here at the same time you are submitting somewhere else. Please notify us in you submission if you are doing this.
  
  
  By submitting your work to the Sheroes Rag, you are giving permission to the editors to make minor changes in your work before publication without consulting the author. Don't worry, we won't do anything unecessary!
