About Dayton, Ohio, "She" & Me by Amy Kreitzer
Dayton, Ohio is my hometown. She, the title character for my screenplay, is also from Dayton, and while "She" is not my life story, having been born and raised there, its content is informed my own "Dayton Experience". Perhaps what I have most in common with She is a series of surreal dreams about the Gem City, dreams which may ultimately lead us both back home.
Amy's Bio: Amy Kreitzer has an academic background in anthropology (BA, Washington State University) which lends to her longtime interest in, and appreciation for, alternative, underground and/or marginalized cultures, those groups of people whom know first hand what it means- and what it takes- to fight for Justice. "She" is Amy’s second screenplay. Her first, "End of the World (on Huckleberry Mountain)", was written in 2003 and placed in the Zoetrope 2006 screenplay competition. In 2007, she was invited to contribute several poems and artwork in the Aurore Press text, "Country at War: Reflections of the War in Iraq", and recently designed the cover art for another AP publication, "godLESS". Amy is currently seeking agency representation in order to reach the last needed participants (with Dayton, Ohio connections) to make the "She" film a reality. She is also presently collaborating with Colville Confederated Tribes members for two scripts. One is the life story of Christine “Mourning Dove” Quintasket, the first Native American female to publish a fiction novel. "Cogewea", which is the story basis for Amy's other script in progress (by the same title). Amy loves growing things, has fun cooking them, and then most definitely enjoys eating them. She often wonders, "Why don't I have more seeds stored, to ensure I can always grow things- 'just in case'"? It's an important question and most likely one most folks these days don't ponder often enough; or, perhaps they will, after they see, "She".
