RPB , ORPG and URPG
Name: Ashiru Misumato
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Tenalyne Village
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 160 lbs
Build: slim, yet somewhat muscular
Eyes: bright turquoise blue
Hair: somewhat long and white (though appears gray under his hood)
Job: Mercenary
Alignment: whatever he sees as "good"
Race: Human
Religion:
Atheist. Ashiru has learned to live on his own strength rather than rely on a supposedly "all-powerful" being.
Weapons:
Tempered
Katana; a silver alloy katana reaching a length of 5 feet. The handle
is a foot and a half with a cloth grip and a handle guard made of the
same alloy as the blade. The blade itself is 4 1/2 feet long and mostly
silver. The katana has been tempered at least three times while in
Ashiru's father's care.
Armor:
He wears a pair of red
leather arm guards on each arm. Carefully sewn inside the sleeveless
blue turtleneck is a layer of leather armor. Hidden under his baggy
pants, he wears a pair of metal shinguard over his legs. The same kind
of metal is used in plates on his boots.
Description:
Normally,
Ashiru isn't the kind of person you'd point out in a crowd. His face is
usually hidden under his hood. He wears a reversible hooded cloak (one
side gray, one side green), a slate blue sleeveless turtleneck, and
baggy tan pants tucked into black somewhat armored boots. He bears his
katana on his back with his pack while traveling. Across his arms,
chest, and back are various scars from his previous jobs and from his
journeys across the country.
Personality:
Ashiru tries
not to draw much attention to himself. He prefers to be a loner during
his given missions, though he doesn't resent having allies when needed.
If Ashiru passes by a fight or sees someone in need of protection, he's
not afraid of stepping in and helping out. He's rather quiet and keeps
most of his thoughts to himself. Ashiru doesn't mind a duel or two and
he usually appears confident in battle, though he doesn't think of
himself as very strong.
More in Depth:
Ashiru is rather skilled with his katana.
However, if there's a case where he loses his sword, he would resort to
using powerful kicks and punches. Though he's not as fast as he'd like
to be, Ashiru makes up for it in his physical strength. He is
suseptable to magic, considering his lack of experience with it.

Detailed History of Ashiru
History:
Ashiru was born in a small village on the edge of
two warring kingdoms. His father was usually at the village outposts
keeping an eye out for incoming armies while Ashiru was still a baby.
His mother, however, stayed in the house and took care of Ashiru. When
Ashiru was able to walk, his father stayed at the house more often to
train him for battle. Ashiru's mother didn't approve of this, but his
father argued that he'll need to be ready in case of an invasion. His
mother decided not to argue against it, yet kept an eye on Ashiru.
By
the time Ashiru was 9 years of age, he already knew how to fist-fight
and a little kick boxing. His father gave him a wooden sword to learn
swordplay. Ashiru would spar with his father every now and then, but
most of his training was towards dummies made from potato sacks and
straw. His father was on duty more often than usual. One of the armies
was camped a few miles from the village and appeared to be coming
closer each day. Soon, Ashiru's father was at the outpost from dawn
'til midnight. This left Ashiru to practice on his own, often trying
for moving objects like bees and such. At about this time, Ashiru's
mother was becoming pregnant again, though it was hard to tell.
One
night, the alarm sounded from one of the nearby outposts. The army was
coming close and riding on horseback. Within a few minutes, however,
the alarm was cut off as the outpost was destroyed. Ashiru was awakened
by his mother and was urged to hurry up and get out of the house.
Ashiru quickly threw on some traveling clothes and went into his
father's room to get one of the good weapons in case he needed it. The
only weapon he found was his father's katana, so he took that. The
sword seemed absurdly long and heavy for a 9-year-old to wield, but
Ashiru didn't have much choice. His wooden sword wouldn't do much good
against the soldiers quickly approaching the village. Ashiru drew the
katana out of its sheath and set the blade aside. He then tied the
sheath to his back and grabbed the katana. His mother had managed to
grab some food and ushered Ashiru out of the back door of the house.
Ashiru looked towards the horizon and could already see the shadows of
the army and a few heads illuminated by torches. His mother grabbed his
hand and ran towards the nearby forest along with the other villagers.
They
ran deep into the woods and hid amongst the bushes. Ashiru had never
really seen any real battle, so he climbed to the top of one of the
trees and peeked out from the branches, taking the katana with him. A
few of the houses were caught ablaze. Soldiers were slaughtering
villagers who took too long to escape. He couldn't believe what he was
seeing. Did they actually enjoy doing this? Ashiru leaned in closer
without realizing it. The branch he was leaning on snapped and he came
tumbling down into a thick patch of bushes. He hit his head hard on the
ground and passed out just as a few groups of soldiers invaded the
forest...
Ashiru awoke hours later; for some reason, he felt rather
sore and he could smell dried blood and smoke. He rolled out of the
bushes and tried to figure out what happened. He then saw his father's
katana tangled in a thorn bush. After pulling the katana out of the
bush, Ashiru remembered the army and the village. Looking around
quickly, he realized in horror that his mother was missing. He combed
through the forest in search of his mother, but all he found were his
slaughtered neighbors. Where had his mother gone? He went back to the
village, only to find the houses in cinders and ash, if not barely
standing. His mother wasn't in the village, either. Not knowing what to
do, Ashiru went through the rubble and salvaged what clothes and
anything else that was usable. He managed to find a map of the two
kingdoms and the surrounding regions. Though most of it was still
intact, the edges were singed and hot cinders burned a few small holes
in it. Considering he was just a kid, he didn't really understand the
map very well. What he did recognize was the forest beside the village.
He traced his finger towards each of the feuding kingdoms. He decided
to see if his mother was taken by the army and started a journey
towards the nearest kingdom.
It was rather rough starting out and
Ashiru was close to starving to death several times. During his years
of travel, Ashiru practiced with his father's katana. It was heavy and
hard to handle while he was still little, but as he grew it became
easier to wield. It took about a good five years before he mastered his
skills on his own.
At the age of 16 (two years after mastering his
skills), Ashiru finally found his way to the kingdom of Ciccarone. He
took rest at an inn with what little money he had. Considering he was
practically flat broke, Ashiru took a look at whatever jobs were
available. Considering most of them had "apply at the castle" on them,
he went to the castle to find work.
The king sat at the throne and
took a good look at Ashiru. Seeing how this was the first time the king
has seen Ashiru, his majesty gave him what he deemed as an easy task.
The coastline was just a few miles off. A small band of pirates have
been camped out on the beach for a few days now. The king wanted to be
rid of them before they get any ideas of trying to raid the castle.
Ashiru took the job and headed South for the beach.
It took an
entire day before he reached the beach. He took refuge in the cliffs
where he could watch the pirates from a distance. Ashiru rested in the
cliffs until sundown. Then he put his skills to the test. There were
only about 5 pirates, yet they still gave him a bit of trouble in the
end. After they were killed, Ashiru took their bandannas as proof and
scoured the rest of the beach for any other pirates. Once satisfied, he
spent the night at the beach and set off towards Ciccarone in the
morning.
It was nearly evening when he reached the castle. Ashiru
presented the bandannas to the king and claimed his reward. The king
was somewhat surprised and thought it would take a day longer before
Ashiru returned. When the king asked for his name and Ashiru gave it, a
nearby servant with her daughter gasped in surprise. Ashiru looked over
at the servant and immediately recognized her. She ran over to him and
embraced him, Ashiru hugged her in return. Ashiru was finally reunited
with his mother.
He asked her what happened the night the village
was attacked. She explained that she and a few other villagers were
taken captive by the army and were on their way to the Fessendren
kingdom. The Ciccarone army were on their way to invade one of the
Fessendren cities when they saw the army heading back to their castle.
They took advantage of this and attacked the army. Many were killed
from both armies and a few of the captives managed to get away from the
battle, Ashiru's mother being one of them. The Ciccarone army found the
escaped captives the night after their victory against the Fessendren
army. Considering the rather poor condition of the captives, the army
took them back to Ciccarone. By the time they reached the castle,
Ashiru's mother was already about 6 months pregnant. The king took them
in the castle as refugees. Considering they had no place to go, the
king allowed them to stay as long as they wished. Ashiru's mother
decided to work in the castle in return. A few months later, she gave
birth to her daughter, Miyuki. She has lived in the castle raising her
daughter ever since.
Ashiru stayed at the castle for a few days and
watched over Miyuki while their mother was on duty. He told her stories
of his travels and of the pirates he fought recently. Miyuki seemed
hungry for more stories about the world outside of Ciccarone and begged
him to tell her more. Well, after awhile, Ashiru soon became bored of
life within the castle. He missed being out on his own and being in
battle. Promising his mother and sister that he would return one day,
Ashiru set off for his own adventures.
