I've been accepted to be one of the 30 chosen trainers to train and compete in the 2008 Western States Mustang Challenge. On March 7 & 8th I will drive to Sacramento to pick up my partner (mustang). We will have 90 days to prepare for the competition that will be held at the Sacramento Horse Expo June 6-9th. I've heard there is anywhere from 40,000-50,000 people that go thru that expo in a weekend! Talk about nervous! But I have commited myself to this challenge and compete I will. Check out http://www.horsexpo.com/MustangCh021508.docfor a description of the Mustang Challenge.
Madelyn Wagner, a friend from my Rawhide Ranch College days also entered the challenge. She was accepted. We are both looking forward to seeing each other and sharing time together both when we pick up our horses and then again at the competition. Madelyn lives in Valley Center, CA which is near San Diego. We have not seen each other in nearly 15 years and have only recently been communicating thru e-mail.
Put this web site in your favorites as I will be updating it with pictures and videos of my progress with the mustang. (That is if I can figure out how to upload everything. I'm not to good at these computer things.)
That's all for now.

In one week I will have my mustang and can start putting pictures of him/her on my web site. Hopefully I will figure out how to tape videos and keep everyone updated on our training progress. Until then, thought I would add the complete picture of myself that I used above. The picture is of me and a 3 year old quarter horse mare I recently trained. The picture was taken on a trail ride after Annie had about 40 rides. She is owned by a gentleman that will be using her on a cattle ranch in Maupin, OR. This weekend, March 1 and 2, Annie is at her first first round up and branding with her owner. I am anxious to hear how they do. Behind us is typical Central Oregon terrain, sagebrush and juniper trees.
