Newark Showground - Dogs Unleashed

Thanks and well done to all our club members for their hardwork over the last weekend, making our show a huge success. Well done too to Billie and Bethany, Pip and Lorna, Archie and Jane and Pepper and Emma for running successfully for the first time in open competion - you did us proud.

Drax - 2nd, 3rd and 4th May 09

Carlton Towers - Selby game Fair - Easter 09

The first outdoor tournament of the season is always a must of us, 7 teams entered and for this year, three open teams running new combinations of dogs. Friday is starters day, we had one team entered comprising of Billie, Pepper, Bess, Willow and Archie. They ran faultlessly, ending the day winning the division. Saturday was the turn of Striders and Scurriers. Striders were in first running in division 8 with their new combination of Ginny, Kye, Max and Zappa, they all ran well but finished the day 7th as seeded with a fastest time of 21.14. Then was the turn of the Scurriers running in division 13 with Shep, Folly, Willow, Midge and Jack they too ran well - Jack playing the game in both lanes!! They ended the day in third place. Sunday we had Speeders up first, running in division 3 with their new and very different combination of Sky, Anya, Murphy, Bree and Meg - a very much unhearsed combination. Well, the dogs did us proud, change overs improved as the day progressed, with a fastest time of 18.70 they won the division. Last up for the open teams were the Sprinters, another new unhearsed combination of Spike, Paddy, Jay and Jet. After some initial teething problems with Spike, the team ran well to come in 2nd with a fastest time of 20.07. Monday was multibreed day, 2 teams entered - Supermix with Jay, Anya, Bree and Spike and Sortz with Kye, Max, Zappa and Buzz - all dogs again running well, Supermix gaining a 2nd place in division 2 with a fastest time of 20.26,and Sortz gaining 5th place in division 5 with a fastest time of 23.21. A busy and exhausting weekend - but good fun had by all!!

Stocksbridge - 21st and 22nd March 2009

The sun shone down on us all day Saturday. The dogs all ran their socks off, although we managed to finished 6th in all three divisions. Willow ran brilliantly not looking at the opposing team once!! AND DAVY HAS POINTS!!!!!!! 10 POINTS!!!!  He has now got the official points to go with the picture ......... just how many years has that taken to achieve??

After just a few hours sleep, Sunday was upon us. Another fine day - a little more wind about. We had Springers running in division 5 with Meg, Tip, Bess (her first tournament), Hebe and Jack. They proved to be a good combination getting a fastest time of 21.74, winning the division and with Jack and Hebe aka Bugger up and Sod it running faultlessly in both lanes. Yeah!! Speeders were running in division 1 with their usual line up. All the dogs ran briliantly, finishing a respectful second place.

Newark Showground - 8th February 2009

Thankfully the week of snow that we had endured had started to clear a little. We headed down to Newark for a full day with four teams to Rotherhams tournament. The first team in was the Springers in division 4 with a running combination of Shep, Lily, DJ, Midge, Jack and Willow. Not quite sure what would happen - Lily hadn't ran for a while, Willow hadn't yet completed a leg in open tournament, DJ having only ran at one previous tournament and finally would Jack play? ..... and in both lanes!! Well, we needn't have worried - the dogs did us proud. Willow completed several runs (and now has some points!), despite being interfered with on her first run!! Jack proved that he could run in both lanes and did so for the majority of the day and the others ran faultlessly. The team came in 5th - well done to them. Then came the fun - division 2 where we had both Sprinters and Striders running .... and first race we were racing each other!! Both these teams were a dog short, so we thought that we would give Tip and Meg the opportunity of running with them. Sprinters had a running combination of Anya, Bree, Tip and Spike and Striders were running with Murphy, Meg, Max and Zappa. Sprinters proved to be the faster team on the day securing a new seed time of 20.30 and finished in a respectable 2nd place. Striders had a few problews with a very enthusiastic Meg who thought she should say hello to the opposing side after she had ran! Soon sorted though by changing her running position to last, gathering a few people to guard the central reservation .......... and an odd rugby tackle from Owen. They too raced well and finished in 4th place. Max did well running in 2nd place ...... soon have him running as start dog!! We then had an hours break, time to refuel and take a snack ............... yes Richard, the mince pies were definately a hit!! Thanks. It was then the turn of the Speeders, with their usually line up of Jay, Paddy, Sky and Jet - they ran well although not quite a fast as their norm, but finishing 5th in division 1. Thanks to Owen, Richard, Alan and Ashley for boxloading for the teams. Another busy but enjoyable day ..... a good way to spend your birthday Richard?

Markfield - 31st January 2009

Some of us made the journey to Markfield, to run 2 teams in the Intermediate tournament - Sheffield Strollers with Meg, Willow, Buzz and Pepper. This was Pepper and Willow's first "real" tournament and Meg's second. Buzz was running to gain some extra practise tiggering the box!  Sheffield Should Do's with Tip, Bess, Jack and Hebe - Bess's first tournamt and Tip's second with Hebe and Jack running to gain experience running the the "feared" blue lane!! All the dogs ran brilliantly, gaining valuable experience. Sheffield Strollers gained 3rd place in their division and Sheffield Should Do's gained 5th place in their division.

During lunchtime there was opportunity to do single and pairs - Anya, Sky, Max, Jay and Bree had a play in the open section, and Meg and Pepper had a turn in the starters section. Anya and Sky won the open pairs (8.84), Anya and Bree 3rd in the open pairs (9.17), Anya came second in the open singles (4.48), Meg won the starters singles (4.8) and Meg and Pepper came 2nd in the starters pairs. All in all a god day with valuable experience for all.

St Leger Horse Park - 25th January 2009

The first tournament of a New Year, and what a busy day for us!! First up in Division 1 were the Speeders, with Jay, Paddy, Sky and Jet. They all ran well, came 6th as seeded with a fastest time of 18.99. Thanks to Karen and Ashley for running Paddy and Sky. Division 2 was the turn of the Sprinters with Anya (fresh legged having not had her sprint around the grounds today!!), Bree, Shep, Spike and DJ and Striders with Murphy, Kye, Max and Zappa! This kept us on our toes, having to do a quick swap of dogs and holders nearly every leg!! This was DJ's first racing experience - what a star ... she ran perfectly on the blue lane, but ran slightly wide ocassionally on the red lane. Our last race of the day was Sprinters versus Striders ..... Striders already had 3 wins under their belt and Sprinters 2. Richard and Alan box loading for the first time - Sprinters running without DJ, Linda with a dog on each team, Karen needing to catch Anya before she could run across to run Max ....... what fun! The Sprinters won, evening up the scores, giving a final result of 2nd to Sprinters and 3rd to Striders - well done!! Division 3 was judging and ring party duties, last but certainy not least was the turn of the Springers. Two new dogs running today for the first time - Meg and Tip, joining Midge, Hebe, Buzz and EV. Meg and Tip ran perfectly - what stars! EV decided that she was outside her comfort zone, Hebe ran perfectly on her blue lane, Buzz ran well but had some problems on the box, not helped by the fact fact Linda was also runing Midge on the team. Overall the team got a well deserved 4th place - well done to them! A busy but enjoyable day. Thanks to our box loaders - Angela, Emma, Ashley, Richard and Alan without whom we wouldn't be able to run.

Northern Racing College - 7th December 2008

Cold early start for a fun packed and busy day - 4 divisions running and we had a team in each! First up were the Speeders with their usual line up of Jay, Paddy, Sky and Jet, 7th seed in division 1 - they all ran well but were placed 7th as seeded. Thanks to Karen and Ashley for doing such a good job running Paddy and Sky.  Next team in were the Striders in division 2, with a line up of Murphy, Kye, Max and Spike. They were seeded 6th in their division, ran brilliantly well with some heart stopping changeovers and finished a very respectable 4th place - well done!! Thanks to Linda for running the Spikelet! Division 3 was the turn of the aptly named Sprinters!! - some of which had had a little more early morning exercise than others ............. enough said I think!! Their running combination was Anya, Bree, Ginny and Zappa, again ran brilliantly to come home with a well deserved 3rd place, after initial 5th seeding. Thanks to Angela for running Zappa. Last but not least was the turn of the Springers, They had a running combination of EV, Midge, Shep, Hebe, Buzz and Inca - the morning was a little hampered as EV decided not to play, but Inca to the rescue in the afternoon improved the running and the team finished in 5th place as seeded.

Thanks to Angela, Emma and Ashley for box loading, to Clare for bringing Inca for the afternoon and to Owen for videoing the changeovers. Oh yes, nearly forgot - and to Karen and Emma for "lightening up" the ring party!!  Well done everybody - good team effort!!

Selby College - 9th November 2008

Well what a day!! Not even sure where to begin, an extremely busy day filled with several firsts ......... new handlers for some of the Speeder dogs, new team line up for Sprinters - and also new start dog, two family dogs running in the same team, new people on the lines and finally one of our dogs coming out of retirement after more than 3 years!! Were we kept on our toes ....... just a bit!

Arriving early enough to give all the dogs a good leg stretch in the exercise area, the first team in were the Speeders. They were running their usual line up of Jay, Paddy, Sky and Jet, although with new handlers, for Paddy - Karen and for Sky - Ashley. You both rose to the challenge brilliantly, cracking changeovers - hard to believe you'd not ran them before. Seeded 5th in division 1, finishing a well deserved 4th place. Well done!! Quick swap of dogs, it was then the turn of Striders in division 2, with Murphy (ran by "the other women"!!), Kye, Max and Spike - they ran their socks off - fought hard, and managed to hold onto their seeded place to win the division with a fastest time of 21.01 - well done. Just love those instant downs on Max, Karen - really impressive!

Another quick change of dogs brought us to division 3 with Sprinters, they were running on a declared time of 21.50 with a new combination of Anya - as start dog, Bree, Shep and Zappa. we also had an unexpected  dog on the team - Sheila's Ginny - she was retired 3 years ago due to sustaining an injury (not flyball related), in fact other than running one leg in July 2006, Ginny hasn't actually done any flyball since May 2005!! Anya was a star as start dog - and Ashley, just how professionally did you handle that challenge - amazing! Ginny and Shep shared the 3rd dog place, had Ginny forgotten what to do .......... not at all!! Again the team fought hard, all dogs running well, also managed to hold onto their seeded place to win the division with a fastest time of 21.08 - well done to all, and especially Ginny - who loved every minute of coming out of retirement!! Last, but certainly not least, was the turn of the Springers running in division 4. This team consisted of - Kiera, Folly, Midge, Marvin, Hebe and Buzz. Running in different combinations, Hebe running faultlessly in the red lane all day, and likewise Buzz in the blue. Folly was on light duties due to an injury earlier in the week, but ran well. On the legs that Folly stood out, both Kiera and Marvin were left to run in the team ............. what stars - didn't put a foot wrong. The Springers were 5th seeded and finished a respectable 4th - well done!!

Big thanks to Angela, Clare and Ashley for doing a brilliant job boxloading, to Sheila, Emma and Clare for being on the line and doing the paperwork, and to Emma, Ashley and Karen for collecting the balls, without whom these teams would not be running as effectively. Big thank you to Angela and Linda for running Zappa and Spike superbly as usual.

A huge well done to everybody that attended for a tremedous team effort - an extremily busy and tiring day, but worth every second ........ didn't our dogs do us proud!!!!

Phoenix Sports and Social Club - Rotherham - 26th October 2008

Well, what a weekend!! We had 3 teams entered - Sprinters, Scurriers and Springers. Sprinters were running a different combination this week, partly due to dog availabilty and partly, because this tournament was being held on grass under canvas (an unknown entity) and we chose not to run some of the faster, less stopable dogs. The running combination for Sprinters was Jay, Paddy, Anya and Spike - they all ran their socks off, brilliant change overs and best of all an easy to catch Anya. A well deserved 2nd place in division 2 with a fastest time of 20.67. The other two teams were both running in division 5 -Scurriers with a running combination of Shep, Kiera, Lily, Max. Zappa and Jack. They all ran superbly - Jack too ....... when he got his act together!! A newly reformed Max - those instant downs were amazing Karen ..... brilliant!! Just loosing one race meant that they won the division with a fastest time of 23.24 -well done!! Springers were the other team in division 5 with Inca, Marvin, Costa, Midge, Hebe and Buzz - another combination that ran brilliantly. They got a well deserved 3rd place with a fastest time of 25.09 - well done to them. Thanks to Vicky for box loading for the Sprinters and to Ashley for boxloading for both Scurriers and Sprinters - you both did an amazing job ..... thanks. Thanks also to Lewis for ball collecting for all the teams - good job done!! An enjoyable day had by all ......... can't wait for the next!!
