Tip runnning at EMDAC - July 09

This year the boxes for Crufts have changed to the BFA boxes, we decided that it was time we should enter another team - North Derbyshire Speed Extreme - to see if we could qualify for Crufts again. For the first qualifyer, the team consisted of Sky, Anya, Murphy, Tip, and reserves Paddy and Meg. We all travelled down to Nuneaton on the 9th May, only one dog and handler having done this before. Nerves were high!! The draw was done. Our first race was against one of the Warrington teams, all was riding on the last race, we managed to hold it together and win, putting us through to the next round. Our net race was against Golden Valley - again we won ...... next round. We then came up against another Warrington team,again down to the last race, and again we won, bringing us to the semi final where we came up against Nuneaton - a familiar sight - reminding me of our finals clash at Crufts four years ago!! Again it was down to the last race, but we were pipped to the post and Nuneaton where through to Crufts. We had one further race, to determine 3rd and 4th places. This was against Covert and again went to 3 legs,this time we pipped them to the post, securing us a 3rd place. We done team - a valant effort - so close but yet so far! Time then before presentation for relaxing - cream teas all round! - thanks Karen!!

Kye, Pepper, Anya, Max and Ashar).
