Subject: February 2009 Meeting of the SHS CLASS OF 57

Several classmates gathered at the Southland on February 3rd and had a great time eating and remembering.

But, the Good News is that we have decided to have another class get together near the 52nd anniversary of our class graduation.

WHEN: MAY 30, 2009
TIME: 11:00 AM
PLACE: The Veranda At The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail overlooking          the beautiful Tennessee River.
FOOD: The Restaurant Of The Shoals will fix a buffet with hamburgers,         chicken sandwiches and sides for about $15.00
ACTIVITIES: Nothing planned. Just get together and visit with each other.

If you have not seen the fabulous facility at the Golf Course, you are in for a real treat.

At the meeting we discussed that before the meeting we will try to get in touch with everyone and get a report of how they are doing that will be shared.  (Webmaster Note:  A form is now available for quick and easy submission on line.  See 2009 Information Form in Navigation Bar at left.  Remember to send photos)

Sounds like fun to me.

Sad news today, but it brought back good memories. How wonderfully exciting it was when we were in elementary school, if we had a nickle, or in those days, even a penny or two, for how much fun was it to go to Odell's Grocery and pick out what we wanted from the many, many penny candies that Odell had. What fun. But remember also, what good burgers Odell had there. I do remember that often some of our adventurous guys would buy a penny cig. "for his daddy". Anyway Odell's was great place for a kid.

Odell was buried today. But he reached the age of 97. He got into real estate after the grocery and lived most all of his life on Atlanta Ave. across the street from the school. Odell is survived by his son Buddy and daughters Carole and Nancy.

Hope you and yours are great. Remember, each member of the class of 1957 is very special and we hope to hear from you and better yet, visit with you very soon.
