Verse of the Day
Pictured above is the Grand Dame of my fleet, a Rivarossi model of a Southern Pacific railroad 4-8-8-2 Cab-forward, a unique locomotive designed to relieve the crews as the locomotive would go thru the railroads notoriously long tunnels. By putting them in the front of the locomotive, the train crew no longer needed to lie on the cab floor sucking air thru a wet rag or oxygen mask. Rescued from a swap meet table for $25, unable to pull 5 cars up a 1.5% grade, what was once junk is now a finely tuned machine, DCC decoder equipped with an LED headlight and able to pull long freights around the club layout, hence The Route of Redemption.
And so the saga of the Basic & Mostly Credible Railroad begins. When I first came to the LORD in Oct. 1986, my model railroading was basically plunk, plug and play, a hobby of acquiring rather than creating. At the Lords leading, I donated my entire layout and left the hobby for almost 4 years. Reintroduced to it shortly after I married the beloved Miss M., I acquired a large lot of HO parts and pieces, the ground work for the hobby I practice and enjoy today. No longer bound to the idea that everything had to be prototypically accurate, the latest of the latest offerings from the best manufacturers and ever increasing prices, I now enjoyed the wit and whimsy, as well as the seriousness of the hobby as it played out in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Combined with a love and reverence for God and His Living Word, I pray you are blessed with what you see and hope you come back from time to time. Many thanks to my Webmaster Luke for his help in putting this page together for me. Blessings, grace and peace, BC
The Route of Redemption John 14:5-6 Thomas saith
unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we
know the way?
