Have you ever tried to use wood glue on plastic?  It doesn't work.  It won't hold.  If you put even a little pressure on what you've glued it comes apart.  We are like that.  If we put our trust in worldly pleasures or other people and depend on those things or those people to "keep us together" we will fail.  That glue will not withstand lifes pressures.  The outcome is usually a mess.

Have you ever accidently got super glue on your fingers and got them stuck together?  You can't just pull them apart.  It takes special chemicals to break that bond.  Are you putting your trust in authority type figures like Pastors and leaders.  They are pretty dependable.  However with the right circumstances and some trials stirred in, it won't hold either.

The answer to long term stability is cement and lots of it.  If you want a firm foundation, you dig a deep hole and fill it with cement.  Our lives need to be built on a firm foundation which is Jesus.  Build on the solid Rock and it won't be moved.  Luke 6:48..."He is like a man which built a house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat harshly upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a Rock!"
