Morning Splendor, by Anonymous

Elegant skies streaked with
Wane morning light,
Patches of brilliance upon
Earthy mounds, creating
Light-checkered hills
Throughout the land.

Dewdrops upon the
Emerald grass, that
Glimmer, glimmer, glimmer,
Like captured starlight,
Shards of spangled glass
Scattered over the
Drowsy earth.

Shimmering tendrils of
Pale, ghostly light
Cobweb across the dusky
Sky of morn,
Breaking from the
Shattering night,
While the goddess of dawn
Trills her snow-white horn.

The early north wind
Lashes my hair round my
Rose-flooded cheeks,
And coolly breathes
A minty scent,
Sends a soft breeze
To caress my skin,
While I perch upon this rooftop,
Watching morning unfurl.

As the icy gray sea
Sifts gently apart
To reveal a cloudless
Indigo sky,
And the sun in its glory
Spreads it limbs of
Warmth,
My lips form round
A single word:
“Wow.”
