Character Name: Daichi Reiniku (First Name, Last Name)
Name Meaning: The Body and Soul of the Earth
General Name: Attis
Age: 23
Birthdate: May 1st [ The sign is Taurus, an earth sign, ruled by Venus ]
Personality: Daichi is the boy that every girl wants to be with. He’s attractive, tall, incredibly muscular and an all-around nice guy. The problem with Daichi is that he doesn’t really care or notice the female attention he gets; not so much that he dislikes girls or anything, it’s just that it’s never really been all that important to him. He is kind of like the knights that girls dream about; he opens doors for women, always lets them go first, and does whatever he can to help them in any way, shape or form (but he also does what he can to help men, too!). Daichi is very friendly, kind and compassionate, always out to do some good in the world and lend a hand wherever it would be needed. Sweet to a fault, Daichi loves seeing people smile because it, in turn, makes him smile, and people being happy or laughing is the highlight of his day.
Besides being a nice-guy, Daichi is also very, very goofy. He is always the one to be cracking jokes or doing something totally silly or ridiculous, and loves to make people laugh and generally have a good-time. It’s also difficult not to laugh when Daichi is around and laughing himself, for his laughter is quite infectious and incredibly loud and booming; you could hear him halfway across the school if you listen carefully! Plus, Daichi is always doing silly things without knowing them (because he’s not too bright), so people are usually laughing at him, which he gets into as well. Because of his good-nature, Daichi has an excellent sense of humor and loves to have jokes and pranks played on him. What would be hurtful to most people when people laugh at you, Daichi takes in stride and will join into the laughter as well. After all, laughter is the best medicine!
Much like a traditional knight, Daichi is incredibly loyal and protective to the ones that he holds dear. Once he considers you a friend, he will do anything in his power to protect you and your happiness. He hates to see his friends suffer in any way, and tries his best to make them feel better (but won’t go about beating up people for them). Once you tell Daichi a secret, he keeps it until the end of time, and trusts that his friends will do the same. He is loving and trust-worthy, and is an excellent listener when it gets down to it. While he may not be the best at giving advice, his cheer-up tactics usually work for a while.
Once Daichi has his mind made up on something, it’s really hard to get it out of his head. He is determined to do what needs to be done, to finish what needs to be finished, and will stick to it until the end. His will is strong, like steel, and not a whole lot can actually bend or break it. Sure, he’s not as stubborn as an old mule, since he knows when to step down and fix things, but he has specific goals in his mind that he works on to get finished. Not so much stubborn, but more determined and focused on things…well, when he’s not being goofy.
Daichi is not the brightest bulb in the box. While he’s not a complete idiot, complex things elude Daichi’s mind due to his simple-minded nature. He has common sense, of course, it’s just overly complicated things that confuses him and has a tendency to bounce around in his skull and disappear moments later. He has a one-track mind as well. Eat. Go to School. Try to pay attention. Eat more. Practice. Sleep. Those kinds of things are pretty much what bounces around in Daichi’s mind, with the occasional joke or comment thrown in there.
On top of being kind of a dunce, Daichi is rather forgetful and flakey. Okay, really forgetful. Ask him the day his mother was born, he’d go “Uh…” and make up some excuse for forgetting it. A lot of things he tries to learn in school tends to fly away from his head come homework or test time, meaning he bombed his tests pretty much consistently. No one is quite sure how he managed to graduate from senior high school or finish up his college courses, besides some kind of stroke of luck or just grazing by the skin of his teeth. Daichi tends to remember things once he’s written them down (especially on his calendar), but the problem is that he even sometimes forgets to write things down. Yes, Daichi can be hopeless at times.
As General Attis, Daichi is a bit more mature and a little bit less goofy. Being a general means he focuses more on his loyalties and his chivalry, as opposed to his humor. Although the goofiness of Daichi still comes out, especially when the situation is not as dire, Attis is much more calm and collected, not to mention very protective of anyone he decides he should protect. He is the kind of character who will jump in the way of an oncoming attack to protect an ally, or beat the living crap out of someone threatening an ally. However, one thing still stays the same; Attis isn’t too bright and his lack of intelligence can sometimes get him into trouble, since he tends to react on instincts instead of giving some kind of thought before doing something. But, he seems to be able to remember things better then Daichi does.
Daichi had a fairly normal life growing up. A working father, a stay at home mom, and two younger sisters (hence his secret love of Shoujo manga). The family was very loving and supportive and Daichi’s little sisters (Akiko and Sumire) adored their fun big brother. Life was pretty good for them, save for his father’s smoking problem, but he always smoked outside of the house so the children were not exposed to it.
When Daichi turned 20, his father was diagnosed with both lung and throat cancer. The doctors tried their best to save him, but there was not a whole lot they could do. Two long years of chemotherapy treatment, an attempt at a mastectomy, and Daichi’s father still died from it. With their father’s death and a lack of any kind of income, Daichi’s mother had to take on a job and Daichi and Akiko (who was 18 at the time) also took on jobs to pay for the bills and for Daichi’s college education. Amazingly, the family pulled through it in the end, especially when Daichi’s mother re-married just a few months before the recent events began.
Daichi currently lives on his own in a large loft apartment with his three rabbits; Selene, Nyx, and Soma. He works full-time at a local karate Dojo where he instructs students in the forms of karate. Not only does his job pay all of the bills that need to be paid, but the center allows him to train there under the Master of the Dojo for free. For now, life has settled down for Daichi since he moved out, and he’s gradually saving money for his trip through Asia.
Strengths: Compassionate (Daichi cares a lot about what people are feeling, so he does what he can to make them happy.); Friendly (Daichi loves to meet new people and to make new friends!); Loyal (You can’t find a more loyal friend then Daichi, even if he is kind of dumb.); Protective (Any time one of his friends is hurting, he’s there to protect their happiness in whatever way he can.); Strong-willed (It takes a lot to break Daichi’s will these days.); Goofy (He can be the life of the party with his jokes and general goofy-personality. A lot of people can’t help but to laugh at him.).
Weaknesses: Not Too Bright (Yes, Daichi is a bricks short of a outhouse.); Forgetful (What? That event was yesterday? Dude, I totally forgot!); Immature at Times (Because he’s really goofy, the other side is that he isn’t really mature and would rather be silly then serious.); One-Track Mind (Trying to focus on more then one thing at a time tends to hurt Daichi’s simple brain.); Not Always Serious (As mentioned, being silly all the time makes Daichi lack a lot of seriousness.); Can be Annoying (He’s the kind of guy right in your face and talking/cracking jokes/what did you mean by that? And other kind of stupid questions.).
Dreams: Right now, Daichi dreams of traveling through Asia to learn various forms of martial arts from the masters themselves. Going to Tibet, China, Korea, and Mongolia; all of those places to learn the unique fighting styles of each country. He plans to use this knowledge to open up his own Dojo some day.
Favorite Foods: Grilled octopus legs. Can’t beat that tasty, chewy goodness of a bottom-dwelling creature! He especially likes the ones on a stick, so it’s both delicious and convenient. Daichi also likes rice fried in chicken stock, especially when both the rice and the octopus legs are put in together. Good stuff!
Least Favorite Food: Fast Food. God, that stuff is so greasy that it makes Daichi feel sick just smelling all of that lard in there. Why, oh WHY didn’t MacDonalds stay in America?!
Favorite Class: Physical Education. Because Daichi is so fit and loves to do anything exercise-related, PE is his favorite class. Sure, he doesn’t get the same work-out he would get in his karate and tae kwon do classes, but he enjoys it all the same. Lets just say Daichi is the guy you want to be on your sports team, due to his hand-eye coordination and his strength.
Least Favorite Class: Science/Chemistry. Because Daichi really isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, anything that’s really complex tends to go in one ear, and out the other. All of those formulas and numbers just don’t add up in his mind, so he’d rather just skip the whole science thing and move on with his life.
Habits: When confused, which happens quite a bit with Daichi, he has a tendency to raise his eyebrows and blink rapidly several times. Even if he doesn’t voice his confusion, this is a clear way to tell he’s not quite getting it. He also has a tendency to say “Uh…” A whole lot, and has been known to laugh away any kind of embarrassment or confusion. Because Daichi is very active, any time he’s sitting still results in him jiggling his leg, strumming his fingers, or swaying from side to side. He also hums excessively.
Likes: Martial Arts (Daichi has a black belt in Karate and Tae Kwon Do; he’s also proficient in Tai Chi. He likes to be able to defend people with it, how cheesy is that?); Jokes (He collects them. Did you know that?); Exercise in general (Gotta love a good work-out!); Singing (He loves to sing, but doesn’t really see himself going anywhere with it); Foreign Films (His favorite foreign movies are from China, but he also likes American and other movies from around the world); Rabbits (Rabbits are just so…so…adorable! Daichi currently has about three rabbits in his apartment, he loves them that much!); Reading Manga (Daichi’s guilty pleasure is his love of reading Shoujo manga. What? Can’t a guy like Shoujo manga these days?); Fighting Games (When he can’t get out and train, this is the next best thing. People beating the crap out of each other! He favors Mortal Kombat and the Tekken Series.).
Dislikes: Mean People (Really, shut your trap if you have nothing good to say. These people really piss Daichi off and he wishes they would just realize they’re hurting people and stop being so rude.); Not Doing Anything (Daichi always needs to be doing something, or else he gets incredibly bored really fast.); MMORPGs (Those people there are WEIRD.); People Who Smoke (Gag. Daichi can’t stand the smell of smoke and, since smoking claimed his Father, he wishes that smoking was illegal.); Ghost Stories (They scare the crap out of him! Why do people keep on telling ghost stories to him in the suemr?); Bugs (They’re just ugly and creepy. It’s not like he’ll scream when he sees them, he just hates seeing them in his apartment.); Roses (He’s allergic to them, so he tries to avoid them at all costs.); Cats (It’s not so much he dislikes cats, he’s just terrified of them. He’s afraid their bite and claw him! Stupid cats!).
Elemental Power: Earth
Transformation Sequence: Daichi closes his eyes and stands with his feet at shoulder-width, pulling his elbows to his waist and clenching his fists, a meditative fighters stance. Once he has “assumed the position,” he begins to glow a light brown color as the ground below him begins to shake. Suddenly, rock springs up from the ground and surrounds Daichi in a rocky tomb for a few seconds. The rock then begins to shatter from one point as General Attis breaks through the rock with his fist, fully adorned in his fuku. Swinging around, he lands in an offensive fighting position, ready to go.
Special Items: Soul of the Earth ~ Attis’ “weapon,” a pair of specially designed, light-weight gauntlets that he wears. Their brown and cover his forearm, starting just a few inches above the middle of his forearm, and extending down across his knuckles. They have a unique “hole” on either side of them, where the leather-like (but much harder then leather, of course!) fabric wraps around the back of his forearm. It stops at his wrist in the back, curving upwards to form the piece that covers his knuckles. They have swirling flame designs covering them, starting at the piece over his knuckles. The gauntlets keep his knuckles from getting bloody and broken, and also add to the damage Attis can do with his physical attacks, as he is mostly a physical fighter.
Attack Name:Earth Crusher
Description of Attack: Lifting his hands up, Attis thrusts his right fist into his open left palm, resembling a traditional Chinese greeting. Bowing at the hips, he raises his right fist into the air, then leaps off of the ground whilst shouting the word “Earth.” While in mid-air, Attis twists his fist to make a downwards swiping motion, aiming it towards the ground while his body begins to fall. He lands in a crotched, kneeling position with his left leg propped, then rams his fist down into the ground below. As soon as his fist hits the ground, he shouts “Crusher” and releases a massive shock-wave from his fist, causing the ground below him to shoot forward like a wave of rock. The wave will then crash into anything near-by, knocking them backwards and dealing blunt damage. The spikes of rock can also impale things as well, and it’s generally a pretty destructive attack. However, Attis has no control over who this hits; enemies and allies alike can and will be affected by this attack. It is purely a chaotic move, and because of the risks, Attis prefers to only use this in dire circumstances.
Roleplay Sample: Class had gone well today. Although Daichi was working with white-belts for that session, it was good to see that they were steadily improving and burning a lot of fat. His star pupil was a woman near being severely obese, and had taken the class to help her get into shape without surgery. Of course, the class was very difficult for someone of her weight, but she was doing her best and Daichi couldn’t be more proud.
As the students meandered out of the room, he approached the woman ant tapped her on the shoulder.
“Oh, Reiniku-sensei,” She bowed at her waist as best she could. Even though she had only been in class for about a month and a half, she was already looking much better, “Good class?”
“Great class!” Daichi said with a bright grin down at the shorter woman, “I just wanted to say I’m really happy with how you’re doing in here, Misaki-san! You’re doing so well considering your chronic health problems, probably even better then some of the other students!”
“You really think so, Reiniku-sensei?” Misaki asked, still trying to catch her breath from the vigorous exercise they had been doing the entire hour-long session. With a bright smile and a nod, Daichi affirmed this.
“I mean, I only see you three times a week…but every time I do, I swear it looks like you’re shedding the pounds!” Leaning in, he asked her another question, “So how much weight have you lost, Misaki-san?”
“Over nine kilos!”
“Seriously? Seriously?!” Daichi couldn’t help but to raise his voice and repeat himself as he said that, “Wow, that’s amazing, Misaki-san! You should be really proud of yourself for that!”
“I am, I am!” Misaki laughed and began to wipe some of the sweat from her forehead, “But, of course, it’s because I’ve got an amazing instructor.”
“Aww…you’re making me blush, Misaki-san!” Daichi laughed and scratched the back of his head, “But really…it’s all worth it if you can loose that much weight it the short amount of time you’ve been here! Right?”
”Right!”
“Well, I’ll see you on Thursday then, Misaki-san!” Daichi said as some blue-belt students began to file into the room, “Keep up the good work!”
“I will try. Thank you again, Reiniku-sensei!” With a smile and a wave, Misaki exited the room to leave the more advanced students to work with her instructor.
