On June 30, 1986, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in Bowers v. Hardwick, that homosexual citizens had no constitutional right to privacy.
On June 28, 2000, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that the Boy Scouts of America had a First Amendment right to exclude people from its organization on the basis of sexual orientation, irrespective of any applicable civil rights laws.
In 2003, the United States Supreme Court ruled in Lawrence v. Texas that laws against sodomy or anal sex cannot be directed at homosexuals alone, and furthermore, that intimate consensual sexual conduct is part of the liberty protected by substantive due process under the Fourteenth Amendment. The majority opinion, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, explicitly reverses Bowers v. Hardwick.
Okay, in 2003? Who reverses a Supreme Court ruling that is explicitly anti-gay only in 2003? America, apparently. I'm so pissed off at this country!
But!
The National Lavender Greens Caucus (NLGC) is the United States Green Party's advocacy group on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (GLBTIQ) issues and is an officially accredited (recognized) Identity Caucus of the Green Party. NLGC works for the elimination of heterosexism and all its manifestations such as homophobia, violence, prejudice, and injustice against GLBTIQ communities. NLGC also works for the elimination of racism and sexism and all their manifestations in GLBTIQ communities and in society as a whole. Their work is centered in the Ten Key Values and the Four Pillars of the Green Party (statements of core principles held in common by Green Party organizations and individuals world wide). It is the view of the NLGC that freedom and social justice for GLBTIQ individuals will only come with the liberation of all people, and they actively view themselves as part of the broader movement for social justice in the United States and worldwide.
P.S. Don't you love Wikipedia?
I think I may be lesbian.
I mean, you think about all the boys I've liked, and since there have only been about three, you realize (I realized) that they weren't that important. They're not the ones I'm going to remember in 10 years, and they're not the ones whose pants I wanted to get into. (No comment.)
Also, I've had extremely more lasting/deeper crushes on girls than boys. And I do love girls. They're great. And guys are....not.
No offense.
So--what do I do now?
I've recently just realized that Something Corporate is considerably more emo than Jack's Mannequin.
What I can't explain is why I like Jack's Mannequin more than SoCo. I mean, emo music is kinda my thing after all. Or maybe...that's a stereotype. Maybe I've changed to fit my wannabe stereotype. Ahhhh! School! Okay, let's see.
I really like "Bruised," "La La Lie," "Dark Blue," "Lonely for Her," and so many other songs by Jack's Mannequin.
And, I hate to say it and be disloyal to my parent band, but seriously..."Hurricane" and "Punk Rock Princess" are kinda the only SoCo songs I like.
I think I've made a breakthrough.
Why do girls feel the need to act totally fake and be completely perfect in order for them to be attractive? And why do some guys fall for it?
I'm talking about the "popular" people. The ones who know what words like "exfoliating" mean and do it on a regular basis. The ones with perfect hair and skin and clothes and shoes and money and families...God. I act like I'm jealous. But I don't understand what give them their status. It's just so stupid. And--I may have wanted to be like them, once upon a time, but seriously...it's not worth it.
And if they think that's attractive...let me tell you something. I am by no means at their social "level" and somehow...I get more than my fair share of crushers.
So try being real for once. Try crying and then don't care if your makeup runs. Try it.
I dare you.
