Arwen's Requiem Dress. Here it is, my first costume diary. This the page dedicated to the saga of my reproduction version of Arwen's Requiem gown from Return of the King.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Eowyn's White Wool Gown, worn sans belt to my (Katie's) Junior-Senior Banquet 2004. This was a team effort with my mother; I designed, drafted, and cut, and she sewed it together because of time constraints. It is very simple, but elegant. It also fit like a glove, due to my mother being a wizard and also having used the pattern before.

I'm calling this the "Eight Hour Wonder Corset." In reality, it's my sister's Renaissance Faire costume from 2005, but the only part of it that I made was the corset. And I did it in, yep, eight hours.
Summer 2005

After falling in love with the gorgeous costumes from Emma Thompson's Sense & Sensibility, and having acquired the suitable patterns and materials, I just had to make my own Regency ensemble. As of October 2005, this is a work in progress. I really love the era, so it's likely that I'll end up making myself a wardrobe rather than just a dress. The basic, white Elinor dress is a good start, though!

This was a longstanding project that started with some gorgeous embroidered silk that was too expensive to do anything big with, so it became a pair of 18th century stays.

My only first satisfactory attempt at Victorian corsetry, as seen (or not seen, rather, since it was under other clothes) on stage for Anne of Green Gables 2006.

What do you get when a nerdy student has wanted to work at a historic site for over ten years, has an employee discount, sees the perfect fabric, and also has to make a final project for a costuming class?
...Okay, that didn't make much sense, but this dress is the result when you add all those things up!

Green linen round gown, reminiscent of the round gown from Sharon Burnston's Fitting & Proper. The workhorse of my colonial collection.

Honors Senior Project 2007, four costumes for historic interpretation circa 1770. Click to go to a separate page with more information on all four outfits.
This project took up most of 2007 sewing-wise, so go take a look!
