Just a review.... "We survived the ¨Train of Death¨ (named not because of the danger, but because
of the boredom as it goes so slow and there is nothing out the window but scrub brush). Not only did it take forever, but FOREVER AND A DAY as the engine broke down and we had to roll back 2 hours to a place where other trains could pass us, then wait for another engine..............."
But we made it finally (and the motos with no damage). Prices are SOOOO low here in Bolivia that we were able
to purchase 2 new front tires (the knobs are down to nothing from rolling on the pavement), 2 sets of chains and sprockets, front brake disc and pads - all for the price that they wanted for ONE front brake disc in Brazil ! We are a bit frustrated that we haven´t gotten out of Santa Cruz yet and it would have been difficult to make Cochabamba today (we will NOT drive in the dark!), but after that the Cochabamba to La Paz day should be shorter so we are hoping we can still make La Paz by Sunday night.
Luke's stand broke and he lost all but one bolt on his rear rack (that also broke) so we are repairing that too. Good service and better prices
here tho so we are VERY happy. Don't know that we will be able to communicate until La Paz tho. Don't think I can update the website any before they finish the motos......
I don`t want anyone to think I don`t care anymore....
Met LOTS of French on the train and in the Hostal (and VERY friendly, not like those I have met in Peru) and I was so sad not to be able to communicate well w/ them. I missed Sara and Tabitha! Luke was fascinated by the Toucan at the hostal (PIX)!
We wandered around the plaza (pix) at night and found they were having a demonstration/expose on religious freedom with ALL the churches represented, with music and speakers from all. Found a little out-of the way pizza place to ea
t, then went looking for postcards before heading back to bed.
We are pushing on so that we can make our flights out of Peru and BE BACK HOME SOON! MONDAY SHOULD BE THE DAY TO PRAY next as we cross back into Peru with no documents showing that the motos left Peru....
