Healing Methods
Why not just buy Potions from the store? Why buy drinks from the department store instead? Let's take a look at the pro's and con's of each.
A normal Potion is available at many Marts early in the game. They cost $300, and restore 20 hit points. A Super Potion restores 50 hit points, and costs $700. Hyper Potions cost $1200 and heal 200 HP. And lastly, a Max Potion costs $2500 and heals all your HP.
Now, let's look at the drinks. A can of Fresh Water is cheaper than a Potion, $200. But, it heals the same amount as a Super Potion, 50 HP. Good deal, no? A Soda Pop is $300 for 60 HP, and Lemonade is $350 for 80 HP.
As you can see, buying drinks is definately the better deal. However, Potions are more convienient, as you can buy them in bulk and almost anywhere. Despite this, I buy the drinks.
Even if you do decide to buy drinks, it's still a good idea to buy Hyper Potions. They heal much more than a Lemonade, and are useful when your high level Pokémon are almost defeated.
But, before you buy Max Potions, take a look at your Pokémon. If they have around 300 hit points, you're better off skipping the Max Potions, as they would cost nearly twice as much for an item that won't be too much more effective than the cheaper option.
Berrires can also be very helpful. Oran and Sitrus berries will heal hit points. Oran heals 10, and Sitrus heals 30. This may not seem like a lot, but they don't cost money; all you have to do is plant and water them. If you grow enough Sitrus berries, you can heal your Pokémon in between Elite Four battles, and save the items that heal more for in-battle. Last but not least, if a Pokémon holds these berries, they can use them themselves, unlike Potions and drinks.
Whichever method you choose to heal your Pokémon, good luck in future battles!
