In Pokemon Emerald, you have the choice of three Pokemon to start with. They are Torchic, Mudkip, and Treecko. Torchic is a fire type, and gains a second fighting type as it evolves. Treecko is a grass type, and Mudkip is a water type, gaining a ground type when it evolves.
