Never allow your personal feelings to get involved. Use logic, not your
emotions to achieve what you must. There is no room for emotions, for
they are dangerous not only to yourself, but the outside world as well.

Knowledge is power; one should be strive to read as much as possible.
The only thing worse than not knowing something is being too lazy to
find out.
There is no passion, there is serenity.Be
calm. Have a focused mind. When one acts with a still mind they see
things clearly as they should be. Passion blinds your eyes and scatters
your thoughts.

Tao we come; to Tao we go. Like Obi-wan said: "If you strike me down, I
will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” In a lot of
Asian traditions, when a warrior needed help he would call upon his
ancestors for guidance. When we are rejoined with the Force we are much
more powerful. To be honest I still feel my father’s presence around
me. When I need assistance he is there for me. |

Daily Training

I found this on a
Shaolin website. It definitely reminded my of my daily training
sessions. I have studied Shaolin Kempo for many years and I am trying
to find a school in Asia to study at so I can get a better grasp on its
culture. You can study all you want, but to be able to live it is a
different matter.
According to the site this was the daily routine of the warrior monks:
1. Energy collection or chi development
2. Meditation
3. philosophy
4. yoga
5. Nutrition, consisting of proper diet, healing arts and verbalism
6. the arts of punching, kicking and self defense combinations
7. push-pull arts
8. Jumping patterns permitting escape from danger with no physical contact
I can honestly say I have lived these steps for the last 7 years,
except maybe the nutrition. I eat everything, but I still have an
excellent body fat measurement. I am between average and athletic... |

Be a master
|

Mastery of the Force
Accept the powers given to you by the Force. Train daily to not only maintain them, but also to grow them further.
Mastery of Yourself
Be better than yourself. Have
control over every aspect of your life. Control what you do, do not be
controlled by your actions. This includes your mind and body as well.
You need to train every aspect of your life. A strong mind, a strong
spirit and a strong body are essential in a Jedi's life.
Mastery of Adaptation
You must change and grow. You cannot remain the same. When you become stagnant, your skills began to fade away.
Mastery of Defense
A Jedi who cannot defend himself or others is of little value should
conflict come up. Healing powers are great, but you may need to use
other abilities before you have the chance to heal. |

Buddhist Path can a Jedi walk it?
|
|
|
|
Is a Jedi a Buddhist? No, but there are some similarities between the
two. I myself am a nonmonistary Buddhist or a lay Buddhist if you will.
I try to live by the Precepts, the 3 Jewels and the 8 fold path. I am
not perfect in my walk, but then again life is for learning. Life is
not a sprint it is a marathon. I am not sure if anyone knows what the
precepts the jewels or what the 8 fold path is so I have taken a moment
to explain briefly what they are.
The Precepts
A Buddhist will not
1. Kill or take the life of another creature with hate or anger in
their heart. Do not be mistaken A Buddhist will indeed take a life to
save his own or another. We life peaceful lives, but we will not
tolerate valance from anyone directed towards ourselves or at others.
2. A Buddhist will not steal. This is not limited to taken what is not
ours. It also means will not ask for something for others. What right
do we have to ask you for something that is not ours?
3. A Buddhist will not use deceitful speech. This means lying or using
anything that may mislead anyone to untruthful conclusions.
4. I refrain from using intoxicating chemicals i.e. drinking or
recreational drug use. I do not need intoxicates to misdirect me from
my path. A clear mind is necessary, drinking and drugs prohibit ones
ability to function.
5. I refrain from sexual misconduct. (Please notice the word miss in
misconduct Sexual misconduct is having Sex without love or meaningful
relationship. (If you were a Buddhist monk is different as in the fact
that they can not have sexual conduct of any kind. To a monk a simple
touch of a woman is strictly prohibited for it will lead into other
temptations.)
The Buddhist Jewels
1. I seek refuge in the Buddha. This in not the person you see when you
see the statues. I do not worship the First Buddha as a Christian would
worship God. Instead I seek to find the Buddha or the enlightened one
from within.
2. I seek refuge into the dharma or the teaching of the Buddha. I seek knowledge within the Zen Buddhist sect.
3. I seek refuge within the Buddhist community. Ok well in my town
there is not much of a Buddhist community so I need to go to the web
for a since of community.
The true path. 8 fold path
1. Right thought
- Keep your mind on the here and now.
2. Right speech
- Monitor what you say.
- Be Truthful!
- Do not mislead others by what you say.
- Do not use offensive language.(Some people may
find what you say offensive while others do not, so show respect to
those arrond you)
3. Right action
- Use your skills to assist others and keep the peace.
These will very on your force aspect.
4. Right livelihood
- Try to find employment that does not harm others. Animal’s nature, other humans
5. Right understanding
- Be mindful of those around you.
Not everyone will agree so respect others point of view.
6. Right effort
- Give your best effort at all times. Do not settle for second when you can finish first.
7. Right mindfulness
- Keep on the here and now.
- Your perspective determines your reality.
8. Right concentration
- Again this goes with be where you are.
- Do not dwel on the past or worry about the future
- Do not worry about what is going on in places you
are not in.(Do not think about work when you are at home, or the house
when you are at
work or training. You can
not be in two places at once. When you enter the dojo you need to
be there. All the issues you have esle where will
still be there when you are finished with the days training.
