Lynch’s Lurgan Park

The Lurgan Park Rally sponsered by Triton Showers was won by Kevin Lynch and Gordon Noble in their KPL Subaru Impreza. Lynch came to the rally looking to make it two wins a row and he led this years event from start to finish. Kenny McKinstry and Bangors Noel Orr provided the early pressure for Lynch but couldn’t keep up to the flying Lynch in the changing conditions. His Subaru by the last few stages was down on power and had to settle for third place behind Tarmac champion Eugene Donnelly. Donnelly had a good run and his slightly outdated Toyota was certainly a match for the Subarus and was pleased to finish second.

Foruth was Glen Allen in a similar Toyota to that of Donnnelly’s, while fifth was English visitor Paul Bird in his Eddie Stobart backed Ford Focus. Reigning World Production champion Niall McShea and Willie McKee were sixth in a borrowed Seat Cordoba.Seventh was Maurice Gass in his Skoda Fabia. Rounding of the top eight was Newtownards’ Cathal Arthurs in his SMG backed Hyundai Accent.

In the Group N catergory Ballinamallard’s Gary Jennings won in his Mitsubishi Evo 6. Bangor’s Michael Curran who won the class last year came home in second place in his Curran Transport backed Evo 7 while third in the caterdory was John McGlaughlin in a similar
