THE SHAWNEE FREE FAIR.

Each year The Shawnee Gem and Mineral Club has a booth in The Shawnee Free Fair. September 10-11,12th., 2009. This year will be the 17th. year in a roll that the club has a booth that give the young people a chance to see how rocks are polished, talk to and ask questions from our juniors and adults. We also have one or two displays of things we find or make so people can see what we do or collect. We have been giving each kid (no age limit), a free polish rock. They have to reach into a box with a hole cut in one end and the cut out piece as a cover over the hole held by tape. With out looking they reach into the box and find a polish or unpolished rock. We have a Spin and Win Wheel at 50 cents a spin and they win every time. Most of the items are made by the juniors and adults that were made in programs at meetings and donated for the Fair. This help pay for the cost of Booths and any extra we can donate for Scholarships and ETC. The Booths also gives a chance to meet other rockhounds that did not know there was a club in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
