September 28, 2008

We are very grateful to have had such an incredible season.  We went into the night nervous and with high hopes of finishing the season with the Championship and a top ten in the point standings.  I am very happy to have finally won the championship, after coming so close with 2nd place a few times.  Going into the night was stressful enough without having to worry about an accident in the first lap.  I was sent through the infield grass on the backstretch and just missed hitting the wall by a foot.  I restarted the car, but when I went to take off the car stalled.  I had apparently pushed the brakes in too hard and bent the brake rods, which caused the brakes to stick.  I had to manually pull the brake pedal back up and ran the rest of the race only using the brakes when I had to because they would just lock up.  It felt like the longest 20 laps I had ever driven.  We managed to limp home 9th, but it was enough to win the championship.  Jay was involved in the same 1st lap accident and had to pit.  He managed to come back and finish 6th.  Jay finished 8th in the final point standings.  We would like to thank Mike Petitt from Petitt Racing Engines; Bob Fill from BFR Racing Chassis;  Buzzy Transmissions; Stoney's Collision Center; and Danielson Martial Arts.  We would also like to thank Pete Kinne, Scott's car owner.  We would like to express a special thanks to Gerry Sevigny for all the times he came over to our garage to give us a hand with the cars.  I appreciate all the support from all the fans that voted me  "Most Popular Limited Sportsman Driver of 2008."  See you all at "The World Series."
