Background
Calpurnius of Coralhaven is by birth Calpurnius Claudianus VI, son of Argento Claudianus III, the late monarch of the Coralhaven enclave, a small submarine commune of the alienated Aventi people. Though Calpurnius is a prince of his homewater, officially his older brother Tichondrius, the reigning king, and unofficially his power-hungry younger brothers Publius and Pyrrhus prevent him from holding any significant power. The oldest son of Argento, Varrus, died in a sahuagin raid before Calpurnius was even born; Calpurnius also has two elder sisters, Julia and Phrygia. While Calpurnius was quick to undertake the religious duties formerly administered by his father, paying homage to the savior and patron god of the his people, Aventernus, the zealous Tichondrius took it upon himself to train as a warrior and lead his already fragile people in campaigns against the sahuagin; he was later joined by Publius and Pyrrhus, who had given their interest to the arcane blasphemy that had destroyed ancient Aventus in the first place. Feeling utterly out of place in his declining family, Calpurnius set out from the waters in an attempt to blend in with the nearby humans. He has since taken up with a pair of machines and a most bizzare short man. He is currently 22.

Personality
Calpurnius still has trouble getting used to life outside the water. Even thought he's perfectly physiologically comfortable, he finds it necessary to swim as often as possible. This discomfort outside of the water manifests with an uptight, quiet streak. He does his damnedest to live his life by the Twelve Virtues of Honor, Loyalty, Bravery, Piety, Civility, Strength, Perseverence, Dedication, Humility, Obligation, Respect, and Peacefulness. While he still has a sense of obligation to his family (mostly to his elder brother Varrus, whom he never knew, and his father; he sees Varrus's death as a reason to excel), he will most likely never fall in line with his dysfunctional siblings. Calpurnius despises arcane magic -- the tool of his younger brothers -- and will take steps to prevent its use in his company.
