What is a Brazilian wax ?
The male Brazilian wax aka the back, sac and crack basically involves the removal of hair from the groin, penis, scrotum and buttocks. The amount of hair that is removed and the areas it is removed from is completely up to you and you will be charged accordingly.
How much does it cost ?
Our prices are flexible as we understand that this treatment is not a "one price fits all" so therefore we base our charges on the amount of hair you have and how much of it you want removed, i.e the less hair the cheaper the price. We will never charge you more than our top prices stated on our pricelist but if you have any doubts or queries then feel free to ask.
How long will the treatment take ?
This depends on the area being waxed and the density of hair. Eyebrows take about 15 minutes, legs 45-60 minutes, and a chest or back wax will take 15-30 minutes depending on hair growth.
A first time Brazilian takes 45-60 minutes, we allow extra time for new clients so that you don't feel rushed, but it gets quicker and easier every time you attend.
How should I prepare for my appointment ?
Please shower before your appointment and, if possible, gently exfoliate the area for a few days beforehand to remove any dead skin cells and lift the hair to help us get as many of the hairs as possible.
Please do not trim or shave the area for 3 weeks prior to your appointment, as the hair needs to be at least ½ cm long in order to wax successfully. Any necessary trimming will be undertaken by us on the day.
We recommend wearing a clean, loose-fitting t-shirt for back or chest waxing, loose trousers for leg waxing, and fresh supportive underwear for all Brazilian. we advise for all waxing treatments that you avoid clothing that will rub excessively.
Does it hurt ?
We would be lying if we said it was a painfree procedure but most clients agree that the discomfort is nowhere near as bad as they anticipated, and reduces even further with regular appointments. We aim to remove the hairs as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Will it feel uncomfortable afterwards ?
Common reactions include slight soreness, small bumps and redness particularly if this is your first wax. These will ease within the first few hours and regular waxing will cause less irritation. It is not unusual for first timers to experience a few pimples on the chest and back - we recommend applying an antiseptic cream to the area for a few days after your treatment, which will help to soothe and protect the skin. How should I care for my skin afterwards ? You must avoid heat and friction for at least 24 hours after your appointment. This means no hot baths or showers (washing with cool or lukewarm water is fine), no sunbathing, no saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms, no exercise, and no tight clothing that might cause excessive skin rubbing. You should also avoid swimming and the use of fragranced body lotions or sprays. We recommend applying an antiseptic cream (available from your therapist) to the freshly waxed area regularly for 3 days, to soothe and protect the skin. To help prevent ingrown hairs, scrub with a loofah or exfoliating mitt 3 times a week in the bath or shower, then follow with a light slick of moisturiser. Can I book a massage / spray tan / sunbed after my wax? Depending on the area waxed, we generally advise first time customers to wait a day or so before having a massage. You must leave at least 24 hours before tanning, which includes fake tanning and the use of UV sunbeds. How long will the results last ? This varies from person to person. Unlike shaving or hair removal creams, waxing removes hair by the root - this avoids the discomfort of itchy stubble and your hair will grow back slower, softer and sparser. Because of the way hair grows, it may take 3 or 4 appointments spaced evenly apart to get on a growth cycle that gives best results, but stick with it and you'll soon see what all the fuss is about. To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend regular waxings every 4 to 5 weeks. I'm worried about being naked / becoming aroused Don't panic! Your therapist is not concerned with the size or shape of your body any more than they are concerned with what car you drive or the colour of your eyes! We aim to make all our customers feel as comfortable as possible, and understand that you may be feeling nervous. Some clients experience temporary physical arousal in response to the manipulation of their genitals - this is nothing to worry about and usually subsides fairly rapidly. Customers are advised, however, that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. Are there any conditions that will prevent me from getting waxed ? Contagious skin conditions will prevent us from waxing the affected area until the condition has completely cleared. Clients taking Roaccutane must wait 6 months after finishing their medication before receiving a waxing treatment and we are also unable to remove hair from skin that is sunburnt, chafed or broken, or skin that has been treated with steroid creams within the last 3 months. We do not recommend having your first Brazilian wax immediately before a special occasion or holiday, as the treated area may look and feel a little sore afterwards.
