Companionable: Toby
Sex: Male
Age: approx 10 years old
Breed: Maltese X
Size: Small
Description: Toby is a friendly fellow who really enjoys life. He loves company - both human and doggy - and likes to hang around where you are and have a cuddle, and explore, or just chill out.
Toby is pretty remarkable, as he is deaf, and his eyesight is not the best, but he doesn't let this dampen his spirit or his enjoyment of life. He copes with new experiences remarkably well. He loves to get out an about, meet people, say hello to other dogs, and of course have a good sniff around. He doesnt like cats though, so needs to go to a cat free family.
Toby does enjoy the company of other dogs, and another dog could help him by being his 'ears', so a home with another companionable dog would be great, but is
not necessary. What Toby must have though is a home where his people are around for most of the time, and where he is allowed inside as part of family life.
Toby also has some arthritis, and is currently on medication to ease this (his current medication will last a year). His eyesight problems are caused by cateracts, and he may eventually go blind, so he would do best in a quiet home.
Toby has a lot of love to give, and he is available for an adoption donation to a home who can give him the comfortable retirement he deserves.
Toby is microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated, wormed, on heartworm prevention and available for an adoption donation.

FRECKLES (Maltese Cross female about 9 years old)
Freckles found herself at the ripe old age of 9 in the pound and her family did not come to collect her, she is just a sweet girl who has many more years in her so don't be put off by her age as small dogs in good health live well into their teens.
Freckles is such a smoochy girl, she just loves people, she is housetrained, she sleeps through the night, she would love a walk a couple of times a week, but what she would love most is somewhere to call home, she would be best suited to an older person/couple who just want a no fuss girl to love and spoil and spend cold winter nights curled up beside you on the lounge. She has fitted in to my home like she has been here all her life, she is such a delight.
Freckles is desexed, C5 vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative) and wormed and she is available for $250

Ashley - Shih Tzu - Female - 8 years
Ashley is a very sweet little dog and is such a pleasure to have around. She unfortunately came into care very neglected. She was full of fleas and her coat was dreadfully matted and filthy. After cleaning her up we discovered that she had a swollen tummy and the thought that she could be pregnant crossed our mind. Unfortunately it turned out to be worse and Ashley needed life-saving surgery. She had two large ovarian tumors that were bleeding into her abdomen. Ashley almost didn't make it through the 2 1/2 hour surgery but thanks to her very dedicated vet she is now recovering beautifully. She still will need to heal further so she is not available for adoption until mid August but visitors with the view of adopting her are very welcome.
Ashley is a very low fuss dog and is happy with a warm comfy bed close to her people. She is fully house-trained and is a very quiet dog who hardly ever barks. Ashley must be kept as an inside dog so a family where someone is at home a lot or a retired person/s would be ideal. Ashley has very low exercise needs but her none-shedding coat would need to be groomed regularly. There are plenty of good years left in Ashley and if you open up your home and heart for her then I'm sure she will be the best little companion you could have ever imagined.

ROSE (Lhasa x Silky) Female 8+ years
Darling Rose is the most wonderful girl and I can't believe she was abandoned in the pound. She has so many 'pluses' I dont know where to start. She is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves to be around you but is not obsessed, she will wander off and do her own thing once she has made sure you know where she is. She is quiet (I haven't heard her bark once yet), and sleeps happily through the night in her bed. She has some basic obedience (sit) and she always comes when I call her name. She's toilet trained too, and can use a doggy door, so takes herself in and out as she pleases. She walks well on lead too, and trots along with a happy, waggy tail. She enjoys sitting on your lap, or in a dog bed in the room with you (or without you!).
We think she is 8+ years old, but she is still agile - getting onto the sofa is no problem - and her eyesight and hearing are fine. She's shown she is a strong lass too (as I found when trying to get her to take a pill!). She gets along well with my dogs, cuddling into them for a nap on her second day here. When
she first met them she had a short growl and then settled, but I'm not suprised - it's tough for a 'mature' girl to lose her home and family, spend a week in the pound and then be thrust into a new life with strange dogs crowding around. She is getting along swimmingly now, so doesn't take very long to adjust.
Rose ended up at the pound in a bit of a mess and once she had a bath and a clip and a few good meals, her coat regained its silky gloss. To keep it that way doesn't require much - just a brush once a week and a bath every 6 weeks or so.
Rose will be microchipped, desexed, C5 vaccinated, wormed and available for $350.

WADDLES (Mixed breed) Male about 10 years oldWaddles is a mixed breed oldie who is rather tubby and about the size of a large Corgi. ADOPTED !
Jordan - Maltese - Male - 11 years
Jordan is a sweetheart whose previous owner cannot take him to the retirement home so he is now looking for a retirement home for himself.
Jordan would be suited to a very similar home to where he came from, retired owner/owners that include him in their daily activities, a walk a couple of times a week, sleep in his mum and dads room and just be kept in the fashion to what he is used to.
He is a delightful pooch and as small dogs live longer than their bigger doggie mates there is nothing to say that Jordan cannot live well into his teens 15-16 years as long as he is kept in tip top health.
If you are that special person who loves the senior citizens of the canine world and you have a space in your heart to love and care for this little man please get in touch so he can start his new life real
soon.

TRIXIE (Female Terrier x) 9 years old
Totally devoted to you, that’s Trixie! She is a sweet and friendly dog with heaps lot of love and devotion to give. She has a very endearing personality and really enjoys being close to you. She’s not clingy though so will happily go off wandering and sniffing around the garden. Trixie is happy to be handled enjoying a pat or a brush or just a plain old cuddle. She gets super excited when you come home and loves to meet and greet friends and family. Trix doesn’t chew dig or climb is housetrained and sleeps very quietly through the night. She walks well on the lead and enjoys a run off lead. In fact, when you let her off lead she runs and runs and runs - not sure how long it’s been since she’s run free like this but she absolutely revels in it.
As much as she likes this running around off lead she will obediently run back to you if you call her! Even though Trix is nine years old she has a good activity level and is a healthy dog with no medical problems. Her gentle, companionable nature would mean she’d be a great friend for someone who was home a lot of the time. Trixie is good with other dogs and actually grew up with three dogs but sadly her owner had to go into a nursing home and give them up. Their previous owner did all she could to find them a home so they wouldn’t end up in the pound.
Medical Notes: Trixie is a little overweight but with regular exercise and a good diet the pounds are already coming off.
Trixie is desexed, C5 vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and heartworm free and available for $150.

Moriaty - Mini Foxie
Male - 8 years
A tiny, sweet little dog, Moriaty is in fabulous form and believes himself to be much younger than he is. He is friendly and affectionate, and easy to have around. Moriaty loves people, including children, and is adapting well to being allowed inside for cuddles and couch time. He loves going for walks and has no trouble keeping up a brisk pace. Hes a happy little dog, with a spring in his step and a bright personality. Moriaty gets on well with other dogs of all sizes, though prefers smaller dogs, and would be fine in a home with another dog. He would also be fine as the only dog in a household and would not fret while you were out all day. Hes not fussy about what he eats or where he sleeps, and is grateful for any kindness shown to him. Little dogs can live well into their late teens so Moriaty likely has many good years left in him. He will make a wonderful pet in a family with or without children, and would be a first rate companion for an older or retired person.
