Semaphore

Semaphore was created with the intention of being a provider of free, good fiction and non-fiction on the internet. It comprises a quarterly e-zine (Semaphore Quarterly) which is distributed free in PDF format from our lulu.com storefront and this website, and an annual print edition (Semaphore Annual), which is to be published at the end of each year.

Semaphore runs on the contents of Editor in Chief Marie's pockets; see the freewebs address? I'm trying to cut all extraneous costs in order to be able to pay contributors for their work; even any profits from the Annual are tied up with paying contributors! If all goes well I hope to be able to pay more for accepted works in the future, but until then, donations are greatly appreciated.  Semaphore is based in New Zealand, and all payments and bills are made out in New Zealand Dollars.

Semaphore has three editors. Every submission that we receive, therefore, is accepted or rejected based on a majority vote. Marie Hodgkinson is the Editor in Chief, in charge of administration, finances, publication, communication and the website; Tabitha Polson and Freyja van Alphen Fyfe are regular editors, which means that all they have to do is read things and, occasionally, tick boxes.
