Sellaband is a tool for artists to raise money in order to make a professional cd. This money comes from so-called "believers", meaning you and me and anyone who is interested in music. On their website, you can listen to all artists (more than 5000!) and find lots of other stuff.

Basically, if you like an artist, you buy shares in them for $10 US each.
When the artist reaches $50,000 (and 9 have done it already, within 14 months!), they go and record an album in a top studio with a top producer , and then the album is sold worldwide.
You earn a share of 50% of the cd sales profits, and 1/3 of the sites advertising revenue from that artist, and get a limited edition album for every share you invest in.
Until the artist reaches $50k, you can take your money back to your bank account, or move it to another artist. The power of music back in the music-lovers control, rather than the record company.
