About Us
Self Serving Monkeys is a wholy independent musical venture specialising in the recording and electronic distribution of Lo-Fi homemade records by various recording artists.
Established in 2006, we aim to provide easy access to a varied range of self produced recording artists and to allow users to download albums or songs by the artists completely free of charge. In addition to album downloads, this site will also provide biographical information and live event news on each of the featured artists. Self Serving Monkeys is a non-profit organisation, but you know, we live in hope.
Initial artists available for download include Demis CousCous, Grassmonkey and The Mackerel Heads. We are always open to submission of new material by new artists. We hold a strong belief that some of the most interesting forward thinking music is being created behind closed doors in homes across the World, away from the manipulating corporate gaze of the mainstream music industry and concepts of marketing and fashion. We urge all home based musicians across the World to prove us right.
