WAKE OF THE RAINBOW WARRIOR
Colonel Hawkspurr - former Special Air Service officer now retired, is living in New Zealand. In July 1989 he learns that Major alain Mafart, convicted for his part in the bombing of the RAINBOW WARRIOR, is serving in France and has been promoted. Hawkspurr decides to kidnap Mafart and return him to justice in New Zealand.
To gather his old companions, Hawkspurr travels to Hong Kong but French agents have followed him and his friends are attacked.
Hawkspurr renews his acquaintance with beautiful Chinese twins. He journeys on to Bornea, where an old friend is running a medical clinic for the indigenous Iban tribe, and he spends an hilarious evening in the tribal Longhouse. In Kenya agents have again trailed hawkspurr, but he and his former sergeant together with an old Mau Mau fighter, ambush and capture the agents.
Cyprus is the home of hawkspurr's oldest friends who own a tourist cruiser. Hawkspurr engages in an underwater fight and kills an assassin in a submerged cavern. Through Italy to France, he is ferried to Jersey by an ex-Legionnaire now a smuggler, he has also discovered that the real leader of the bombing is an old antagonist the terrorist Gunter Von Harzburg.
The island of Jersey is base for the final operation into france, and Hawkspurr fights a duel to the death with yet another French agent. After a successul kidnap from Paris the team and their prisoner escape by glider to the cruiser, which transports them to Egypt after an attack by seaborne commandos.
The dramatic finale of the operation takes place in the Sudanese desert.

He tracks down Von Harzburg, and chases him on skis to the german's village where he is captured, but treated as a brother officer.
Hawkspurr is released, but pursued by border guards and after a fire fight escapes safely to England.
