This exhibition, curated in one of Red Location Museum’s Memory Boxes, celebrates the role musicians played in Red location and New Brighton during South Africa’s struggle against Apartheid.
The exhibition is an introduction to a bigger and ongoing project that will explore the way we commemorate music and especially the development of jazz in the township. The theme for this exhibition was the result of a consultative workshop with community structures, musicians and officials of the Mandela Bay Municipality.
The exhibition is one of the Museum’s semi-permanent exhibitions and opened on 10 November 2006.
