My extended family has met with a dreadful situation. (Some back ground)
I have 3 brother and sister. We are about as close as siblings can be. We each have kids, 21 in all if you can imange that. 10 years ago 3 of us had baby girls born the same week.
My daughter Ceirra, and my neices Clarissa and Alexus. We call them the triplets. The three of them are like sisters, when we gather for family parties.
Around Christmas time my Brother Jed's daughter; Clarissa was diagnosed with a stage 4 tumor in the center of her brain near the thalamus. We fought this thing with everything we had but have come up short. She has endured 6 weeks of Chemo and radiation therapy, which has left her weak, and blind in one eye. The therapy did little to kill or even slow the tumor down. Saddly Her life expencty has been reduced to 4 to 8 weeks.
As close as I am to my brother, I can only image what he & my sister in law are facing. The most difficult part of this situation is watching my niece fight this monster. Seeing her pain and not being able to do anything about it. It’s heartbreaking for all of us and yet as a family we grow stronger and closer each day.
Jed and his family are now faced with the, all too soon, loss of a child. And as if they could possibly endure anymore, the medical, hospital and funeral expenses are piling up. Even after the insurance pays, it will total in the tens of thousands of dollars.
Make-a-wish has stepped in provided them a family retreat that otherwise could not be afforded. The local community is having a fundraiser this Saturday and Wells Fargo Bank has set up a donation account.
I hesitate to even ask; for I know the need is great everywhere one looks these days. But if any of you feel so inclined to donate I would be in your debt.
