Welcome to The GI Joe Newbie Page! A starting point for anyone who is new to the online 1/6 scale action-figure collecting community.

(Remember to bookmark this site!)

The number of websites devoted to 12" action-figures such as GI Joe seems to increase daily. Here are the ones I consider to have the most basic and useful information to get you acquainted with the hobby.

General Information:
Joe World  The ultimate  resource for all things 12" by Charlotte Beckman!!
Know Joe Although no longer maintained this is still a great 12" action-figure FAQ site by Marea Lee Bissonnette
The Price Police Another older site but good reference for the basics on fair pricing, trading, etc. by Richard Knepper
The Front Line More great 12" info by webmaster Gary Anderson. This is the website of a free moderated e-mail discussion group. It also has a Joe Terms Dictionary! Just click on the "Terminology" tab at the to of the page.

Lots o' Links!
The Joe List An awesome list of 12" website links listed alphabetically by Ned Harkey.
Driftwood's Hot Joe Links "The Mother of all GIJOE Link Pages" maintained by Driftwood (Driftwood22@att.net ).

Comparison of old and new 12" action figures:
Scott Stewart's Joe Medical Section Detailed analysis and comparison of various old and new figures. Updated with the latest new figures!

Usenet: "alt.toys.gi-joe" a.k.a. "The Sandbox"
Want to "meet" other Joe collectors from around the world? Then come to "The Sandbox", an un-moderated usenet newsgroup for the discussion of all things related to the 1/6 scale action-figure world and then some. Follow these links to join the fun:
"Alt.toys.gi-joe" FAQ A very informative part of "Know Joe". Required reading, especially for those who are new to newsgroups and posting. A good reminder of proper netiquette for veteran Joeheads too!
"The Sandbox" FAQ Alan Dawson (aka Winch) produced this very good site for Sandbox newbies.
The Listening Post Links to various news servers and great tips on how to read the newsgroup by Ron Jack.
Sgt Zang's JoeChat Frequented by Sandboxers and other Joeheads, this is a great place to "meet" other collectors, trade, sell, and generally have a good time chatting in real time on-line.
Here are some free web-based newsreaders that you can use to get to the Sandbox:
Google.com A great site for reading posts with a web browser (no pics though). Also try the "Power Search" feature to search through the Sandbox archives using keywords, date ranges, user names, etc. Register for free to post messages.
News2Web My personal favorite so far. Great for reading the latest posts and viewing pics with your web browser. News server access not required. Read only, posting is not currently available.
NewsOne.Net Free service but no posting and no binaries.
EasyUsenet For reading only. No pictures.
Usenet Replayer Perfect for viewing the Sandbox binaries in "alt.toys.gi-joe" and "alt.binaries.pictures.gi-joe". Simply type "gi-joe" in the search field. You can also try using this site for reading the posts but I found it rather slow to load up.
Sandbox @ Usenet Replayer This is the direct link to the "alt.toys.gi-joe" newsgroup. Click on the web-based button.
