I would describe myself as a bear inspired Artist. I am originally from the UK and happily reside in New England with my family. Approximately six years ago, just by chance, I went into Joann's craft store and picked up a Teddy Bear Magazine. My Husband challenged me into making one and it just escalated from there. Little did he know he had created a Teddy Bear "monster!" who is constantly covered in plush and mohair. I don't have any pets in my house, so it's a good job I like to clean up all the mess it creates.I believe I have made a wide move into creating one-of-a-kind bear bears. I started painting with enamel gloss on glassware which taught me the delights of color and deep dedication that an artist must bring to optimize their creations and then it just escalated from there. I have always loved to explore new fabrics and materials and new projects. So I was very encouraged to continue my journey of exploring new avenues. So the next obvious choice was to try with the bears. I certainly miss the painting but there are many times over the last year that I have picked up my paintbrush and incorporated into my bear designs. A new idea brought to light was to design my own ATC cards, which I now like to draw and paint. So now each bear comes with his/her own card when they arrive at their new home. Because I tend to specialize in one-of-a kind bears, I prefer not to use the same pattern as I get easily bored. I believe in pushing my creativity to the fullest. I create the bear and pattern in my head and apply it as I go along. I admit I have had no formal training, but was fortunate that my mother taught me how to sew on her old singer sewing machine. It was a real beauty, So for my larger bears I will use the sewing machine but prefer hand sewing for the special details especially applied to miniatures. Who knows what I have conjuring up in my head next? Only time will tell, as long as they are heartfelt and appreciated and bring smiles to your faces. My mission is accomplished and will help brighten up your day. THIS sweet Bear is YUMEE, a finialist in the URSA 2007,.3rd Place in Ted Worldwide 2008 and a Finalist in British Bear Awards 2007.
