Welcome to the 1st Surbiton (Sealion) Sea Scout Group. We are the largest Scout Group in the Royal Kingston District, with three sections: Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and the Sea Scout Troop. We are also lucky enough to be partnered with an Explorer Sea Scout Unit. These sections are for different age groups that are designed to give maximum enjoyment - Beavers for 6-8 year olds, Cubs for 8-10, Scouts for 10-14 and Explorers up to 18 years.
Have a look around the site to find out about us and what we do. If you would like more information or want to join, you can find the form on the nav bar at the top. This site is expanding all the time - new articles and pictures on the Beavers, Cubs, Sea Scouts and Explorers. We also have pages on Camps and Activities including NAWAKA 2006. Check out the Calendar to see what is coming up in the next few weeks.

From January 2009 the Troop hopes to use this website and email as the main form of communication. Hopefully parents will no longer need to find out about activities and events by finding soggy letters that have just been through a nice spin cycle!
If you are the parent/guardian of a scout in the Troop, please Register to join the Mailing List and also be able to make Forum posts!

The Headquarters was finally demolished in the week ending the 26th June. We now look forward to seeing the ground work done for the site and the steel frame being erected sometime after the summer holiday.

As you are now all aware the Beavers and Cubs are now meeting in St Marks Church, St Marks Hill, Surbiton. Normal meeting times have been maintained for the present although this may change slightly as we go through the year.
The demolition of our present HQ may take place any time after the 27th April although the building itself may not come down for some time as there is a lot of work to be done inside the St Andrews Hall to make it safe for destruction.
I would like to thank those who came and helped to move the equipment to the Church and to the garages we have rented.
The group is the primary sponsor of the RNLI rally over the weekend of the 19th/20th September and I would ask all parents to give as much help and time as you can spare that weekend, starting on the Friday 18th getting the control centre into position. This event last year raised £1,200 for the group so please help if you can.
Finally we are going to hold a centenary Church Parade in November to celebrate the registration of the group on the 3rd November 1909, if you know of any ex St Marks Scout Group or Sealion members please let me know so that they can be invited to that event.
Roger
