Welcome to SDCCI-Avatar-MeetUp!

Welcome fellow Avatards! Sockai here!

The purpose of this site is to organize and provide information for the Avatar meet up/cosplay photo shoot that is going to be held at
Comic-con International: San Diego Saturday July 24, 2010
This site will also provide some information on the convention itself so you don't have to go search around to find the simple information you need. And not to mention con pictures! Being a San Diego native, there is also some information about the city of San Diego and what you could do while you're in "America's finest city".
This will be the 4th year I'll be organizing it and hope this site is useful to you and is easy to navigate ^_^

Updates

July 26th

Well Comic-con if officially over and it was a good year. Though I can't say the same for the original meeting spot. I know that I said across Ballroom 20D, but in the end we ended up moving several times. If you did go over to Ballroom 20D you might have noticed that there were line borders (idk the name) in our usual spot. This is new this year and it came as a total surprise for me as for others who've attended this photo shoot before. So I am really sorry for all the confusion and some miscommunication that might have happened on Saturday!!!! Really I am!
The short photo shoot ended up moving down the hallway towards the Hilton then again moved all the way to the end of the hall where anime used to be shown. Around 2pm, we stopped the photo shoot short and headed over to the Marriott for the Avatar: The Last Airbender fan gathering.
The fan gathering turned out much more exciting than I expected. It was truly great considering non of it was planned! (at least that I know of)

The "Avatar day" as a whole was pretty great with the obvious exception that the photo shoot was a bit all over the place (I'm sorry). I really hope you guys had fun and will remember the small highlights of the day. Hope you are all doing well and see you next year!

July 20th

It's Tuesday and Preview Night is less than 48 hours away!!! Some of you are going to head over here (San Diego) tomorrow and this might be the last time you'll be able to get online.

So far no new information has been added to the Comic-con website and the meet up information will not been change.
If you have any questions e-mail me at sockaichan@gmail.com or try to look for me at Comic-con. I'll have my black backpack with a blue arrow painted on it also saying Avatar. I might also be carring my "Sockai" tote bag with my Deviant Art icon on it (a black kitty). You can also look for Avatar_Mom, just lookf for a cute short lady with blond hair radiating Avatar love!

Safe travles and see you there!

July 17th

So Mike and Bryan will be signing BOTH on Friday AND Saturday!

Friday
"CREATOR/CAST APPEARANCES & SIGNINGS AT THE NICK BOOTH #4113
Avatar: The Last Airbender (1:30 – 3:00pm) – Mike DiMartino (creator/executive producer), Bryan Konietzo (creator/executive producer), Joaquim DosSantos (director), Ki-Hyun Ryu (character designer)"
Sourse ConventionScene.com

Saturday
"The Art of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dark Horse Booth #2615
12:00 - 1:00 - Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino"

July 15th

As some of you noticed the Avatar Fangathering (not cosplay photoshoot) will be in the Marriott hotel nextdoor in the Santa Rosa room. Comic-con has a map of the Marriott so you can find that room and various other events happening nextdoor.

July 14th

Well the autograph page has been updated on the official Comic-con website and there is no autograph session related to Avatar happening in the sails pavilion (where the signings usually take place). The page could get updated with new information, but only time will tell. If there is no added signings related to Avatar happening in the sails pavilion, then the signing will happen at the Dark Horse booth (booth #2615)
On the Dark Horse.com blog, they have listed Art of Avatar The Last Airbender: Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino at 12:00 - 1:00 on Saturday at their booth. More Dark Horse autograph listings can be found here.
For booth signings, it's usually first-come-first-serve kind of deal so be prepared for a crowd of people.

Good luck!

July 10th

From the Comic-con International: San Diego website this morning...

July 9th

Ok as some of you have figured out the Thursday and Friday programming schedule has been posted up on the official Comic-con International:San Diego website. As of now, to word on any Avatar panel, but this would not mean no Avatar fan gathering.
Keep sight for any official Avatar: The Last Airbender related things announced on the Comic-con website!
