SCV Camp 2127

Major Samuel H. Drachman Camp

The Sons of Confederate Veterans, or SCV, is a nationwide, non-profit organization that seeks to preserve the legacies of the Confederate States soldiers, sailors and marines; as well as honor the cause for which they fought. Each state composes a Division of the organization, and sections of states compose a Brigade.  The local composition of the SCV is called a Camp.

Camp 2127 was formed in 2007 as a camp of the Arizona Division SCV by new members and transfering members that re-enact as Confederate artillerymen during battle commemorations as a way to salute and honor all CSA military members while placing a form of emphasis on their artillery ancestors. The camp's original name was Army of the Trans-Mississippi Artillery.

In 2008, the camp changed its name to the Major Samuel H. Drachman Camp to honor a former artillery staff officer of General PTG Beauregard who, after the war, relocated to Tucson AZ. Research on Sam Drachman comes through the courtesy and initiative of Gadsden Brigade Commander Bobby Morris, who spearheaded what became known in the AZ Division as "The Drachman Project", and who also suggested the name change for the camp.
