About GTU

An International Geography honor society open to all students regardless of major. A 2.75 overall g.p.a. and 3.0 in Geography courses with a minimum of 3 Geography courses taken is required. Activities include social and intellectual events.



What does GTU do?

Furthers professional interest in Geography.

 

Strengthens student and professional training by the exploration of subjects other than

those of the classroom and laboratory.

 

Encourages student research of high quality and provides an outlet for publication.

 

Makes funds available to students for graduate study and/or research in the field of Geography.



Who is Eligible?

St. Cloud State University Students who have:

 

Completed at least 3 Geography courses.

 

A 3.0 GPA in Geography.

 

Must have completed at least 3 semesters of college courses.

 

Rank in the upper 35% of his/her class.



Why Should You Join GTU?

Membership in GTU is earned by superior scholarship; it is a real honor, a distinction.

 

You can participate in numerous extra-curricular activities.  Most chapters have speakers and campus-wide programs.

 

You can become better acquainted with other Geography students and you can meet and talk with Geography faculty informally.


The membership provides networking opportunities with the national and international geography community.

 

 You can improve your expertise in the field of Geography by learning things not normally dealt with in the classroom.

 

Members receive a handsome certificate, suitable for framing.
