The Scottish Cultural Society of Southern Arizona has planned a list of events to take place this year and the beginning of next year, as are listed below. The next event will be the Robert Burns' Supper 2003 at the Windemere Hotel on January 25th, 2003.

Burns' Night 2003
Rabbie Burns' Night
January 25th, 2003

Location:  Windemere Hotel
                   2047 S. Hwy 92
                   Sierra Vista, AZ

The 25th of January marks the birthday of the famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns(1759 - 1796), whose work has achieved international acclaim.

Born Ayrshire in 1759 into a poor farming family, Burns made great advances in his reading and writing abilities after his father hired him a tutor, and eventually he worked his way into national fame.

'Rabbie' Burns' Night is a two hundred year old celebration in honour of the bard, originally started by close friends and local Burns' Clubs, and is continued to this day. Traditional Scottish food is served, such as Cock-a-leekie soup and the infamous Scottish haggis, which is always traditionally addressed before being eaten with Burns' "Address to the Haggis."
