SCRAPBOOKS PRODUCTIONS

OLD FRIENDS...NEW PRODUCTIONS...NEW AUDIENCES

Who...? What...? When...?Why......................?

Who Scrapbooks...?

Scrapbooks Productions was formed by Geoff Legan in 2001 to stage an evening of the Alan Bennett monologues “Talking Heads” as a ‘studio’ production at the Stoke Rep theatre in Stoke on Trent.

A small scale company recruited from friends, both actors and technicians with whom Geoff has worked with over the course of his acting/directing career.

Joining forces with producer Rob Cope, the company mounted its own “full scale” production of John Misto’s The Shoehorn Sonata in September 2005.

What Scrapbooks...?

Scrapbooks will continue, in the future, to present performances of various plays, musicals and concerts, on an occasional basis, with the main intent of staging new and unusual productions.

When Scrapbooks...?

Scrapbooks are always looking to stage new projects so keep an eye on this site for breaking news of those productions as and when information is available.

Why Scrapbooks...?

For those who may be wondering why the company is called ‘Scrapbooks’ Productions the explanation is quite simple:

In the ultimate back-stage musical “Gypsy” (written by Arthur Laurents, Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne) we meet Rose, the ‘showbiz mother-from-hell’ who sacrifices everything, including her own career, for the sake of her kids.

As the show ends, with her children having turned against her, Rose is left to reflect on what might have been, should she have had the career instead, and she sings:

                                    Why did I do it?

                                        What did it get me?

Scrapbooks full of me in the background.

So there it is, a little theatrical maybe, but at least now you know and can tell your friends.

As Geoff intends to continue to steer the company in all its future endeavours chances are his scrapbooks will get fuller and fuller.
