Ryan O'Neill
Organisation Owner

Ryan is 29 years old and lives in the Kingdom of Fife on the east coast of Scotland. He is the founder of Scottish Paranormal, one of many paranormal investigation groups operating in the UK and which he works on full time along with various international projects which include International Paranormal Investigators (IPI).
Ryan has 13 years of unexplained phenomena experience starting as a teenager at a friend’s house and carrying on throughout his adult life. Along with friends in the early days before paranormal equipment was as easily available Ryan performed a few vigils at some very active private homes in Fife. All Ryan’s work was kept under strict confidentiality as paranormal investigations were not as easily accepted as they are today.
These days Ryan approaches his paranormal research and investigations with both the public in mind and the enhancement of the overall paranormal community at the forefront of all actions. The main aim set by Ryan is, to make people understand what is happening in their workplace or home by first of all ruling out all logical explanations and then once exhausted, look at the possibility of unexplained phenomena. Ryan keeps in mind that people do get scared and rather than turning up with a stack of gear and not helping these people, Ryan prefers to use the personal approach of offering ongoing support and information.
Ryan has worked at many alleged haunted locations throughout Scotland & England and to list them here would take up a great deal of space. Here are some of the locations Ryan has conducted research at:
• Mary Kings Close
• Blair Street Vaults
• The Ragged School & Camera Obscura
• The Clocktower at Pittenweem
• The Kirk of Shotts
• Britannica Panopticon
• Culloden Moor
• Castle Keep – Newcastle
Many private investigations have also been completed but these remain confidential at all times.
Ryan has also been seen doing various media work which is conducted in the hope of further promoting the paranormal community and showing potential new location owners what to expect, opening new doors for continued research. Brining the Paranormal community into the thoughts of the public helps those who are stressed with occurrences in their homes and lets them know they can approach people such as Ryan or the many other serious researchers worldwide.
A good example that was highlighted by Ryan recently was the involvement of Scottish Paranormal on Prime Time ITV1 program Tough Gig with comedienne Arabella Weir. He wanted to push away the various misconceptions about paranormal investigators and prove that Investigators are just real people too with a good sense of humour, individuals who can be approached and understand peoples concerns and also have the ability to gain enjoyment out of their work. Many in the field have seen the benefit in such projects and applauded Scottish Paranormal for pushing the boundaries to benefit the public and organisations alike.
A similar approach was completed back on Halloween 2006, where Ryan along appeared and assisted on the hit UK show Most Haunted Live. Ryan personally met up with the guys at Antix productions to suggest new techniques that could possibly be used in the future along with full dossiers on all Edinburgh locations with reported paranormal activity. Agreement was also made by Ryan to appear in the studio to offer a more balanced view of the situations as they unfolded live to the UK and USA audiences. This again further promoted all sides of thought in the field and made for an interesting three days in Scotland’s capital.
Other Media appearances and articles include:
• Live weekly radio
• Kingdom FM
• River FM
• Mystery Hunters - Canada
• Body & Soul Event - Guest Speaker
• BBC Radio Scotland – Ghost Fest 2007
• Scotland Today – The Ragged School Investigations

Ryan also coordinates a huge international project named IPI which stands for International Paranormal Investigators. IPI brings together investigators and groups from all over the world who share material, protocols and ideas on further enhancement of the community, currently the number of groups signed up stands at over 200 worldwide with over 1000 who participate on the IPI resource site.
Some of the world’s top investigators, demonologists, parapsychologists and other unexplained researchers help direct IPI into the biggest community of world investigators known to date.
Ryan is proud of the contacts he has worldwide and continues to keep in good contact with all on a regular basis. Ryan also welcomes researchers from all over the world and acts as a guide showing them around Scotland’s alleged haunted locations.
