GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL

CCA BALDI MIDDLE SCHOOL

C.C.A. Baldi Middle School is located in Northeast Philadelphia and was named after Charles Carmine Antonio Baldi (1862-1930), the first Italian immigrant appointed to the Philadelphia Board of Education, 1924. Baldi Middle School includes grades six through eight and is comprised of a diverse population of approximately 1,200 students.

WM. LOESCHE ELEMENTARY SCOOL

William H. Loesche was a former Vice President at the Board of Education. He was appointed to the Board of Education in 1932. His former professional experience had been as a Trust Banker at the Girard Trust Corn Exchange Bank. Mr. Loesche served with directorships with the following companies:

• Collins and Aikman Corp., New York City
• Eureka Casualty Insurance Co. of Philadelphia
• Reliance Insurance Co. of Philadelphia
• Keystone Portland Cement Co. of Bath, PA
• Bird Coal Co. of Bala Cynwyd, PA

He was also a member of The City Planning Commission of Philadelphia, the Old York Road Country Club of Jenkintown, the Union League of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and the First Presbyterian Church of Germantown (Elder.)  

William H Loesche, Sr. was survived by his wife, one son, William Loesche Jr., and 3 grandsons. His son was present at the groundbreaking of the school in January of 1966.
