June 2nd, 2006: Seaworthy Movie Coming to Home Video!
Avast, ye landlubbers! Scooby-Doo in Pirates Ahoy! is coming to DVD and video October 19th, 2006! In the newest addition to the original Scooby-Doo movies collection, we find Mystery, Inc. on a creepy cruise in the one-and-only Bermuda Triangle! As if that all by itself wasn't bad enough, it appears that spooky aliens, eerie ghost pirates, and other creepy crawlies are trying to cause trouble! Can the gang solve this baffling mystery...or will they become the next victims of the Bermuda Triangle? Buy it this October to find out! As a side note, the pirate on the front of the package strangely seems to bear a definite resemblance to Captain Morgan Moonscar from Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. However, on the front cover of the novelization video tie-in, we see our good old friend Redbeard the Pirate! Huh? As more details and answers become available, I will post them! May 18th, 2006: Good News or Bad News?
As part of the WB and UPN merger, an all-new Scooby-Doo cartoon series is scheduled to premier for the 2006-2007 season! According to sources, the total running time of the first season is thirteen-and-a-half hours. That means twenty-seven thirty-minute episodes. Unfortunately, this means that What's New, Scooby-Doo? is very likely done for. Now, what's the title of this new cartoon, do you ask? Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! Does this mean that Fred, Daphne, and Velma will be absent from the cast? Only time will tell, I suppose. In their new anime-like style of animation, Shaggy and Scooby are now living with Shaggy's Uncle Albert in his mansion solving mysteries, with the help of a transforming Mystery Machine! If you think that's weird, read this: new Scooby Snacks infused with secret nano-technology give Scooby superhero-like powers! Of course, containing the advanced technology they do, the Scooby Snacks are constantly in jeopardy of being stolen by the world's most dangerous criminals...and it's up to Scooby and Shaggy to stop them! This plot definitely sounds interesting, but it's not really what I think loyal Scooby-Doo fans would be interested in. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.
