Inter-City Travel

Short and medium distance regional travel is easiest by train. Trains can also fulfill long distance travel needs when the speed of air travel is not necessary. Inter-city trains offer first- and second-class service. Most inter-city trains have food service available. Sleeping berths can be found on overnight inter-city trains. In recent years, so-called rail cruises, or excursions by train, have become very popular.

Local Travel

Within cities, rail, tram, and bus transit services are clean, economical, and convenient. Taxis can be hired in every city and are frequently available in the smaller towns as well. Taxis can be an engaging way to see the sites but can also be somewhat costly.

Areas situated along coasts and inland waterways often have ferry service. Several cruise lines offer luxurious and liesurely travel by boat or ship to and from various Schwerdtan ports. These are especially popular in the seaside resort areas.
