The educational system is the primary responsibility of the Ministry for Information and Science. The Ministry also coordinate research and development objectives as well as the practical application of emerging technologies. Beyond these, the Ministry regulate broadcast media, operate the postal service, and serve as the official information source for the government of Schwerdt.

Organisation of the Ministry

Three main divisions facilitate the efficient fulfillment of the Ministry's mission. A Deputy Minister oversees each division.

Education Affairs

Education and training have a central impact on personal life opportunities. Education is the key to the employment market, enables people to participate constructively in society, and imparts values and orientation in an increasingly complex world. Well-educated and well-trained people are Schwerdt's most important resource for the future.

To this end, the Ministry establish educational priorities and objectives, set curriculae standards, and regulate the training of educators of all types. The Ministry operate state-funded educational institutions at all levels and regulate privately operated schools.

Information Affairs

A free press and free access to information serves the common good through knowledgeable citizens. The Ministry regulates media in the interests of guaranteeing rights with responsibilities for the benefit of society.

In addition to protecting intellectual property through administration of copyright laws in Schwerdt, the Ministry operate Information Bank, the multi-media knowledge base of the Archives of the Realm. Administration of the public library system is another important function of the Ministry.

The Ministry's Schwerdt News Service is the official government public information agency. Schwerdt Online is News Service's new official government web portal.

Science and Technology Affairs

Research produces ideas and concepts for new products, processes, and services. Research should not be an end in itself. Rather, research findings must directly benefit people and society and must contribute to sustainable development. Effective utilisation of finite resources results from a coordinated research and technology application scheme, which the Ministry administer.
