The Ministry for Commerce and Industry set the policies, promote the best practices and deliver practical solutions to achieve long term prosperity for all. We also provide the regulatory framework that ensures consumers and workers receive a fair deal, while the best businesses and creators of new ideas are justly rewarded.
Organisation of the Ministry
Three main divisions facilitate the efficient fulfillment of the Ministry's mission. A Deputy Minister oversees each division.
Commercial Affairs
The Ministry's commercial and industrial regulations implement policies that ensure adequate production and distribution of goods within Schwerdt. The intent is to maximise productivity while providing for the satisfaction of demands for goods and services.
Supervision of development enables the Ministry to support sound utilisation while minimising the potential for excess capacity. Much of this is accomplished by means of encoraging efficiency and healthy competition in keeping with the principles of the social market economic system.
Trade Affairs
Sound trade policies ensure the wellbeing of concerns and consumers. The domestic and international division of labor permits Schwerdt to import goods while also providing external markets for goods produced by Schwerdtans. This is particularly important in today's globalising economic environment. In support of trade, the Ministry administers trademarks and service marks in Schwerdt.
Consumer Affairs
Elimination or control of product safety hazards serves the common good by reducing the potential for injuries and, thus, minimising the effect on the health care system. Minimisation of litigation also permits enterprises to pursue well-engineered innovation while, at the same time, avoiding excessive demands on the legal system.
It is important, as well, to provide for the equitable exchange of goods, services, and resources in commerce, whether amongst business concerns or between such concerns and members of the public. In addition, Schwerdt's tourism bureau, Reisebüro, operates under the auspices of the Ministry.
