Force Structure

Schwerdt's military operational concepts are the natural progression of the integration of doctrine and technology. Today's Military Forces are organised to exploit the battle-proven doctrine of Kesselsslacht—the strategic envelopment. This adaptive and responsive structure, based on sound military principles, gives Schwerdt's armed forces superior capability in facing traditional foes as well as assymetrical threats.

Tactical Formations

With regard to land operations, the division are the main tactical formation. The division have the necessary maneuver regiments and support elements to accomplish assigned missions. There are two primary division structures: integrated triple capacity and rapid deployment.

The group is the major sea-going formation. Each is organised to maximise firepower and ensure essential capabilities are present to accomplish assigned missions. While the fleets support tactical operations, they are also part of the strategic forces.

Alignment of tactical air elements with their supported land and sea elements through a common chain of command yields a unity of effort that is a combat multiplier. Focused, streamlined logistics provide the battle commander with flexibility and enhanced capability. The result is greater responsiveness in battle.

Strategic Forces

Having rapid global reach, the Strategic Air Service (SAS) provides reconnaisance, deterrence, and first-strike capabilities in fulfillment of Schwerdt's national military objectives.

Schwerdt's fleets serve both tactical and strategic roles. Organised into groups, the ocean-going vessels provide a strategic deterrence but, alongside other forces, can also become engaged directly with in a military operational zone (op-z).

"Intricap" Division

Most of Schwerdt's divisions are organised as integrated triple capability, or "intricap," formations. At each level, ground maneuver elements consist of a mix of armored and mechanised infantry with appropriate fire support. At the platoon and company level, fire support consists of mortars, but artillery systems are part of battalion, regiment, and division orders of battle.

Combat aviation, the third maneuver element, is part of the structure at battalion and higher. Thus, the intricap division achieves superior combat power even when its counterpart in other militaries has more infantry or armor.

"RaDe" Division

The Rapid Deployment, or "RaDe," division is a relatively light force. Utilising wheeled armored vehicles and combat aviation, RaDe divisions can be quickly transported to anywhere on Scandia within a very short period.

Light and lethal, the force has adequate firepower to dominate the battlefield and its speed permits exploitation of circumstances. This results in early securing of the initiative and achieving of victory.
