International Terrorism and Crime
International terrorism is a blight on the world and all peoples of the world. To a lesser degree, the same holds true for international criminal organisations. Particularly reprehensible are traffickers of narcotics, weapons, and people. Schwerdt vivaciously advocates the institution of international agreements and cooperation in the effort to eradicate the sourges of international terrorism and transnational crime.
For its part, Schwerdt will not tolerate any act of terrorism perpetrated against it, its territories, possessions, citizens, or property held by them. To this end, Schwerdtan anti-terrorist authorities claim global jurisdiction in order to bring to justice any and all perpetrators of terrorist acts against Schwerdt or its constituents.
Schwerdt shall not be on friendly terms with any state that harbors international terrorists or in any way participates in or contributes to international terrorism. Any state that harbors terrorists that have perpetrated an act against Schwerdt may be held accountable as though the state had committed an act of aggression against Schwerdt itself. Any state that has involvement in terrorism committed against Schwerdt is considered to have perpetrated an act of aggression against Schwerdt and is subject to the appropriate response by Schwerdt and, possibly, its allies. These have been long-standing policies of Schwerdt that take on new emphasis and significance in today's world climate.
With regard to persons accused of terrorist acts, Schwerdt intends to extradite any non-citizen that may be within its borders to stand trial under substantiated criminal proceedings. This policy stands whether or not the requesting nation has an extradition treaty with Schwerdt, provided the nation can show just cause and establish appropriate legal jurisdiction. In kind, Schwerdt requests the same courtesy be extended by other nations.
